SORRY! ) (Dit was igg mn laatste post) "Alright.. For instance, suppose we are here." I take the pencil I brought along and draw a tiny dot onto the map, somwhere in the Atlantic. "And we want to go here." I draw a dot on an island nearby, then take my compass and flip it open. "The arrow points north." I explain, "Now suppose we want to go 30 degrees northwest, aye? Cos that's what the map told us," I glance at her to see whether she's still following, "Then we turn the degrees-ring on the compas so that 30 degrees northwest is pointing in our sailing direction." I turn the ring that way and show her, "Aye..?"

"Aye. It points at what's actually the magnetic southpole of the earth.. but that's north in geography terms.

I take the compass out of his hands and study it for a moment. I look down on the map and the windroos in the corner of it. Aparently that thing shows us where north is on the map. I look onto the compass, which is also pointing north ".. how do you know where we are?"

"That's a little more difficult." I admit, "...hold on, I gotta get another map for that." I get up and leave towards the cabin again

I nod and watch him leave. Then I turn my attention towards the map again. I put it onto the deck and lay flat on my stomage and keep studying it and the compas. There has to be some kind of logic in this thing.
I turn my gaze towards where Jack told me the Caribbean are. I see a very small dot that says 'Tortuga' and swallow a bit. Good old times.

Instead of returning with a map, I come back with a oldfashioned globe. I set it down on the deck in front of Ana and sit down with my legs crossed, "Meet the earth again, Ana." I smirk.

I look at the .. ball thing he puts in frond of me and purse my lips. The idea that the earth is looking like this is still kind of odd to me.. "good day earth, how is your life today?"
