Sighing, I look up at him again. "I'm sorry. My trust is. . .pretty much shot." That provoked another question, and I wished I hadn't opened my mouth.
(*jumps you* HI!)

((HI! Long time no see! :hug2: ;D ))
I look at her curiously for a moment, as if contemplating whether to ask any more or not. Eventually I settle with 'not', though I don't dismiss the subject either so I leave the next twist of the conversation up to her. I'm curious to see what kind of girl I have in front of me, here, so let's see how she'll talk her outta this one, eh?

He looked at me as if I was growing a third foot, but didn't beat me to death with questions like I had thought. "Men are not to be trusted. . .it only took one mistake to prove me that." Then, what I hadn't said. . ."And no matter how honourable your intentions, I'm still terrified." I imagined saying that, and could not think what his reaction would be.

I smirk, not disagreeing with her judgement on men. After all, a dishonest man can not be so dishonest to his dishonest self to mistake himself as honest, now can he? "Tell me one thing, though, luv." I tell her, "Before you willingly marooned yerselves on this island so long ago, where did ye come from?" I question.

I hesitated out of sudden horror, the lump in my throat becoming even more prominent. I swallowed, trying to get it to disappear, but. . .it didn't vanish. "Port Royal," I choked out.

"Ah." I say, not surprised. "I thought so."
The crew is still busy on careening the ship as our conversation progressed over the past few minutes, and for the first time I pay them some mind again. The work is done swiftly but well, and figuring they can go without my command for a while longer I return my gaze to the girl in front of me.
My gaze remains on her for somewhat longer than what could actually be called 'polite'. I study her up and down, minding each change of her facial expression thoroughly. Eventually I suddenly clap my hands together, as if I draw my conclusion.
"Say, ye don't have anything valuable back there, eh?" I ask in a manner what must seem like out of the blue. I nod towards the beach, where her li'll house was. I'm a pirate, after all, and I'm not about to let anything valuable get passed unnoticedly. She looks wealthy despite the hints of savage life on this spit of land. She looks.. let's call it 'sophisticated'.

(Hahaha! Good ol' Jack!)
I look back. "No," I say truthfully. "There's a certain something to forgetting. . .where you leave everything else behind, so you can forget. Otherwise, what purpose would be served in forgetting? It would be like. . .just moving your home." My little rant was full of truth- sometimes it was hard to stop talking, once I got started.

My cheerfull expression changes instantly, into pure disappointment. That's a shame. But I suppose she has a point in her rant about forgetting and leaving behind. I would be one to know. I shrug my shoulders eventually "Ah well, I suppose you can't have it all."
(Dinner! Hope to be back later! XX)

I look down, letting my hair fall in front of my face. "Aye. I can't." Hopefully my facial expression was being masked by the makeshift curtain my hair was serving as. The look on my face had always given it away. Everyone I had known knew there was a difference between what I was saying, and what my features said.
(Bye! Oy. . .lunch time for me, so I better go too. . .>.<

"Yer fortunes improved, though!" I speak up again, gesturing around the Black Pearl with an obvious hint of pride in both gesture and word, "Even 'r brig is better than a lonely beach, mind you."
