Mona leaned back on the bench, stretching her back out from where she'd been hunched over for so long. She was sitting at one of the tables in a the local tavern, trying her best to go unnoticed. She wore a black clock over her head for protection, though it fell back when she stretched, revealing her face and hair underneath.

"Both a good and bad thing for you girly......" A stranger in a black cloak sat down on the bench beside her. "You stand out of the crowd with eyes like that....be thankful it was me who found you first. The name's Belsamuel, and I'm here to help you..... if you want"

Mona had learned suspicion as the first thing among meeting anyone now and she didn't dare hold out a hand to shake his. "And I am just to trust you?"

Belsamuel leans over with a smirk but never taking his eyes off the crowd. "No, but I was hoping. We can get to trust later. For now, just know that secret of yours is now common knowledge, and thankful for you I have enough contacts of the seedier kind to know where to find anyone at any time."

"You don't know half of my secrets." Mona pulled up her cloak again to hide her face, glancing around the tavern. "Have you brought anyone with you?"

"No one but myself." Belsamuel could hear the fear in her voice and wondered just how much fear this poor child would have been through in her life." The less people who know your location the better. And also one man talking to a pretty girl would not look strange, but two or three?"

"Woman." Mona corrected him, "I'm a pretty woman, not a girl anymore." She rather didn't like to be treated as such when she could be killed just as easily as disrespected. She started to get up, still taking careful looks around-- there were always people watching her, whether for her beauty or her secrets, it was impossible to tell.

"wait!" Belsamuel went to grab her arm, but stopped himself. He had to get her to trust him... or at least believe him. " Please, let me help you. Your terms, your rules. I will obey your word and pledge alliegence to you, but not here...too public. Just please.... I don't want to see you hurt!" Belsamuel glanced around the room, hoping he hadn't caused a scene.

Mona looked around as well, afraid he might have caused a scene. "Fine... come with me." She pulled her cloak down over her face more and led him out of the tavern into the cold and dark, cobblestone streets.

Belsamuel followed, keeping an ear out for the sounds of anyone following...
