"Huh?" He snapped outta his thoughts and looked over to her.. then suddenly got up. "I gotta go." He said. "Sorry I just.. remember I had to go. Somewhere." Vaguely he tried to explain himself, while he picked up his coat from the chair. Who are you running from? He was urged to scream at Shooter, tell him to shut up. Instead he zipped his coat.

"huh.. what?" She frowned and followed Mort. Now THIS was odd... "But we were supposed to have breakfast together!" She followed him until he was out the front door, she lingered in the dooropening, staring after him, confused and somewhat curious and maybe, juuust maybe a bit disappointed. Why did he have to leave in such a hurry? What was going on ? What had happened in the ten minutes she wasn't watching him ? What did she do wrong ?

"Goddammit.." Mort mumbled under his breath, as he walked down the street hurriedly. "Why the fuck don't you just go?" He growled between gritted teeth.

Carolina went back inside and back upstairs to see whether Mort had seen anything on her laptop..

You'd miss me, pilgrim. Cos without me, how could you possibly find out what that brat is after? And how would you ever kill her...? Mort stood still in the middle of the street, Shooter's words echoing in his mind. Kill..? Why the heck could he not shut UP about that!? He looked down the street and then started making his way down to his house. He needed to be alone.

Empty, off, nothing.. Her laptop was switched off still.. She turned it on and looked through the resently-opened-files but none other then her own files about Mort were opened, by herself one day ago.. "What the.. " Carolina was lost, not understanding why Mort had left without a warning, or without a reason. either he's crazy.. or he's just a jerk.. She knew she wasn't in a position to draw conclusions, but right now she thought he was just the biggest jerk in the universe, blocking the thought of Mort maybe being really really crazy..

By the time Mort arrived home the voices were screaming in his mind, telling him to do this, do that, go back, finish her. "SHUT UP!" He yelled as soon as the door was shut. "Don't wake the neighbours, buddy." Shooters voice sounded. And there he was, leaning against the wall and smoking his perpetual cigarette.

Risking my relationship with a great guy for a jerk like Mort.. what the hell am I doing ?! Pissed off at herself and Mort she started writing. Now that the laptop was on she might as well use it.
If my date of last night is indeed a psychopathic killer then he sure knows how to emphasize it. I was about to sleep with him, to get him on my good side.. and trust me, that's ought to get any guy on my good side. "And now you're missing out on it, jackass" For a cold blooded murderer he's a pretty good kisser, so when we were all cozy on the couch I asked him to stay over. I like to live dangerously, and what's more dangerous then spending the night with an guy that's accused of a double murder ?
He almost had me fooled, trying to be the perfect guy, not pushing into wild-killer-sex, but this morning he showed his true self. Without a reason the man of my nightmares (and yours, if you take away the cute face and good kissing-skills he's really just a freak in bad clothes) left. There was a look in his face that I could hardly reckognize. I think it was delusion, confusion but most of all.. irritation..
Time to find out what brought it on

"Fuck off." Mort whispred, petrified. "I got rid of you. You were gone." "Yeah, pilgrim, but you need me again, dontcha?!" Shooter snapped in a demanding Soutern accent. "Walking wide eyed into a trap, you fool." "You have nothing to do with her." Mort took a step backwards. "You asked me to help you, sir. Just like before. You just don't know you did." Shooter grinned.

Carolina decided to cut Mort out, for a while. She couldn't run after him, that wouldn't make any sense. She didn't feel like following an arsehole either so she stayed at home the rest of the day, thinking about Mort though.
