"alright, sorry for being so bold.." She knew she had crossed the line and she knew she was taking a risk when she asked the question "It's none of my business.." "..I'm gonna practice some swordfighting..good night, captain". Demi gave him a small smile and walked away from the helm. She was getting to close, for herself. For godsakes, HE could have been her father. And eventhough age meant nothing in the period they lived in she still felt awkward that when she was standing close to her captain, for godsakes, whom she'd only known for two days that she felt odd inside her stomach. It made no sense.

Jack nodded, noticing Demi's sudden odd behaviour. He shook his head and called for Mr Cotton. Once the man appeared Jack passed the control of the wheel over. "Keep her going straight," Jack said, picking up the map and heading back to his cabin.
Jack tossed the map onto his desk and kicked his boots off. He placed his hat on the back of his chair along with his effects before collapsing on his bed. Jack put her arms behind his head and stared at the ceiling. He couldnt stop thinking about the girl, Demi, he didnt know why, but she would not leave his mind, there was just something about her ... Jack eventually fell into a dreamless sleep.

Demi headed to the armory and tried to open it, but it was locked. "Damnit" She muttered and hit her fist against the door. She hung her shoulders down and walked back to her own cabin. It didn't seem like she was able to practice her swordfighting tonight. She went back to bed, figuring she could use the last few hours of sleep.

Jack woke up early the next morning, not getting much sleep. He stopped off by the galley first and got himself some breakfast of dry bread and cold meat. Jack then went to the armory to check Demi put back anything she borrow. He tried the door and found it locked. "Interesting," He muttered to himself, a grin forming on his lips as an idea formed in his mind. Jack unlocked the door and grabbed the least rusty-looking sword he could find.
The crew wasnt awake yet, and Mr Cotton was still standing at the helm when Jack went ondeck. He leant the sword against one of the railing and he sat down on the deck, his legs dangling over the side. Jack sat and watched the sunrise.

Demi went straight updecks, not taking her time for breakfast. She was one of the first crewmembers on decks and everything still seemed failry silent. She wondered if there was any work to do at all, not knowing what kind of jobs the crew had when the ship was sailing properly and all. Demi notised Jack on decks too.. She bit her lip and decided to go over anyway "Morning Captain" She said and leaned against the railing, her hair moving rapidly in the wind. "wow, sunrise..didn't know it was this early"

"Time flies, luv," Jack said, not taking his eyes off the horizon. "The sea is calm, the ship needs no repairs, we're making good time, they're nothing that needs doing," Jack said, standing up. "So ..." He picked up the spare sword he'd got from the armory. "I want to see how good you are with a blade," Jack handed her the sword and pulled out his own. "And if you can beat me, I'll let you keep the sword," He grinned.

Demi looked surprised at him. Was he kidding her ? A sword for free? .. than he was probably a genius at swordfighting right? She took the sword and looked at it ".. that's worth the challange" She said, not able to hide a small grin of excitement. "you probably have more experience though.." She assumed the fighting position, holding up her sword, waiting for Jack to get his out.

"Probably," Jack grinned. He unsheathed his sword and traced his finger lightly across the blade. He stood with his legs apart in his fighting stance, his sword held out in front of him. Jack made the first move on Demi, the sound of clashing metal filling the deck.

It was clear to Demi that despite anything Jack was not going to cut her any slack. She obviously had to work for this sword, work hard for it. His attacks were hard and it wasn't easy for her to block them but she did what she had learned and eventually got the opperhand in the attack, they parried on the deck, not cutting eachother any slack.

Jack grinned to himself. Demi was good, he'd give her that, a little bit sloppy to start with but better than any woman he'd ever fought, not that he'd fought many, and as good as any man. Locked in his own thoughts, Jack's concerntration slipped. He missed a parry and Demi's sword sliced his arm, not badly, just breaking the skin. Jack let out a melodramatic yelp, playing on the injury for all it's worth, and fell down to the deck. He grabbed his arm, blood dripping down his sleeve. Some of the crew were standing around watching the fight. Mr Gibbs knelt down next to Jack. Jack shot him a 'play along' glare. "Is it bad?" Jack whined at Gibbs. "Very," Mr Gibbs said sullenly. "I think we're going to have to cut it off altogether,"
