This time it was Logan's turn to deal with a whining Lucy, while she bounced around with her box of apple juice. "I want mummy to play Barbies with meee!" She said, clinging to Logan's leg while he fetched a beer from the fridge.
"She's tuckin' in Kaede, Luce," Logan told 'r. When the little girl wanted to run upstairs anyway, he swept her off the floor and put her on top of the kitchen table, "Maybe later." He told 'r. He'd noticed how Mystique had been completely focussed on their baby girl - and based on his own messed up thoughts, it was easy to guess why. He didn't like it. He hated the fact that she was obviously not done thinking about the past, and he especially hated which part of her past. But hell.. who was he to blame her, when he felt messed up too. And as long as she wasn't talking about it, the least he could do was to give her a few minutes of peace with Kaede, by keeping Lucy entertained.

Mystique came back downstairs ten minutes later, with the baby monitor in her hand. "She's flat out," She said. "You got one of those for me?" She nodded to Logan's beer.

Logan passed her another beer, while Lucy instantly jumped to her feet and clung to Mystique's hand. "I want to play barbies now!" The little girl said impatiently.

Mystique glanced down at their little girl, and scooped her up in one arm. "Sure thing, Luce," She grabbed another beer from the fridge and gave Logan a slightly tired smile before she carried Lucy upstairs to her bedroom.

When they left the kitchen, Logan tipped back what was left of his beer, then silently stared at the empty bottle. Unlike Mystique, he didn't appreciate being alone with his thoughts. At all. He winded up replaying last night's nightmare... then started to think back about their visit to Japan all those years ago... then winded up with that gnawing feeling of guilt all over again while he recalled the funeral. He could've stopped that. All in all, he wish he'd never been left a choice.
Whereas Mystique had found a few minutes of peace and quiet to deal with her thoughts, Logan didn't count on that to help. He eventually smacked the empty beerbottle down on the table and got up from his seat, before he strode through the hallway to the Danger Room, to punch some simulated reality in the face.

Mystique spent the rest of the evening with Lucy and Charlie, playing Barbies. It made her feel better. Making her daughter's happy seemed to make up for abandoning her son some-what. It'd never completely go away but there was nothing she could do about that now, so the best she could do was give her daughters the best life possible. Even if she was tired as hell.

Logan spend those hours in the Danger Room, working out on the toughest levels available cos that left him little time to think about anything else. When he eventually quit, he headed upstairs to hit the shower.

Mystique was just leaving Lucy's bedroom after tucking her in to sleep as Logan was heading to their bedroom. "Phew," She smirked slightly. "Both flat out now,"

"Good job." Logan told her with the hint of a smirk, while he walked to their bedroom to grab a towel and shower.

"Yeah," Mystique smiled, following him to the bedroom and flopping on the bed. She found the remote control and flicked the tv on while he showered.
