Unlike most young women in her time, Elizabeth is independent and spirited. She transforms from a graceful, mild-mannered lady to a true and courageous pirate. Elizabeth has always been fascinated by pirates, but she is often revolted by their agressive and wild nature, especially Jack Sparrow. Even after becoming a pirate, she retains her sense of propriety, as well as her loyalty and compassion for loved ones.
Elizabeth adapted well to pirate life, although she had previously learned how to handle a sword from her fiancé, Will Turner. She is able to defend herself against multiple opponents and can fight using two swords. Elizabeth has natural leadership abilities, quickly learned seamanship, and displays a talent for battle strategy, devising many defensive and offensive maneuvers against her opponents.
Will is now her husband, and Captain of the Flying Dutchman. If there is any way that she could bring him back, she would.

William "Will" Turner, is a fictional character in the Pirates of the Caribbean film series. He is played by Orlando Bloom (and by Dylan Smith in a flashback), and is also one of the main characters. Will is a blacksmith's apprentice working in Port Royal. He is in love with the governor's daughter, Elizabeth Swann. Will is a competent swordsman, although he lacks actual combat experience compared to swordsmen like Jack Sparrow who understands that there are no rules when fighting for one's life. Although mild-mannered, Will is extremely brave, as seen when he faces Jack Sparrow, a notorious pirate, in a sword fight, and by his response to Barbossa's attack on Port Royal. He is fiercely loyal to those he cares about and would risk everything to protect them, especially Elizabeth. This trait is seen throughout his developing story as Will's character developes more by his reaction to unforeseen circumstances rather than his personal ambition or deliberate choices. Most likely he would have continued plying his trade, never presuming to rise above his current station or pursue the woman he believes he can never have. At his best, Will is clever, heroic, and courageous and never shirks responsibility or leaves an obligation unfulfilled. He can also be preoccupied and brooding and, early on, demonstrated rather simplistic and naïve views, although he matures as his story progresses. |
