He walks around inspecting and nods at Max. "Not too bad"
he looks at Adam. "Well, guess it's your turn now, let's see where you end up" he picks the rifle apart again
"and switch! .......15 seconds starting...NOW!"

Fortunately for me I did it twice before now, cos I f*cked my first try up so bad. The second time I did pay attention, and I know where to start now. I try hard to finish the rifle in those fifteen seconds, but I don't quite manage. I come close though. Closer than I thought I would. This is starting to become more fun, actually. I like competing.

While we don't have to do anything as the rifles get inspected I lean forward a little. "Hey, can I ask you something later?" I ask.

"...sure"
"Well done, Jackson2. For being a newbie" he walks to check out the others

When he walks on again I take the rifle and inspect it a little, wanting to get better at this. After all, stuff like this might just mean life or death when we really go down to serious business. I block the thoughts about Jackson1 and focuss on the gun instead.

"Alright, anyone who has ever fired a gun, stand up!"
Some stands up, but Max sits down. He looks around at the ones who stood up

I stay seated. I did shoot a gun before though.. a hunting rifle. My 'dad' inherited it from his father, who I had never seen before his funural. He put it on top of the high cupboard in the livingroom, but my curiosity had been inflammed. Eventually he taught me how to shoot it, aiming at empty soupcans in the open field. I loved that. I loved the thrill of pulling the trigger, and the rush of adrenaline when you hit the 'target'. But after one weekend the fun was over, and the gun was put back onto that cupboard whether I liked it or not. I have no illusions of knowing how to handle a weapon like the M16 though. So I don't get up, which seems wisest.

I stay seated, though I look at the two men who keep standing. Bet they come from a big city.
