"Yeah thanks." I mumble under my breath. I shove the piece into its socket where it clicks. I should've paid more attention.. now I feel like a friggin' 4 year old with a dozen-of-pieces-puzzle that he can't figure out. I bite my lip as I try to figure out how to get the last piece in place. The gun looks complete to me.
Besides, it's really hard to pay much attention. I keep wondering *what* to ask Maximilian without making a fool of myself if he's not.. yknow.

He walks around and inspects the newbies as they put their weapon together. He stops by Adam and points at the rifle.
"Was that piece there during the introduction? Did that man put that piece there? Listen up boy, how are you suppose to shoot with it like that!? Take it apart and do it all over again! Now!"

He gives him a long look, but then continues walking to inspect the rest
Max looks at Adam as he struggles with putting the rifle together again, he's doing it right now anyway

I finish it and put the gun down on the table with a smack. "There." I say, content to see that I *can* do it.
"Very good, soldier." One of the ones who were inspecting it 'compliments' Adam. "Now could you repeat that in 10 seconds when you walk into a trap from the Vietcong?" He grins slowly.
"..." I sigh, "I'd let him do it for me." I shrug, nodding towards Max.

"Good! Not good enough though. Now you do it over again and this time you have exactly 15 seconds to get it together!"
Max sighs.
"Shit.." he takes the rifle, since it's his turn now since they switch turns after one put them together and he starts taking it apart

Everybody with the rifles starts putting them together. Max having some troubles in the beginning, but soon realizes it isn't as hard. He is quite logic and figures things out pretty fast. When the time runs out...
"Put down the rifles NOW!"
...he only has two parts left that he didn't manage to put on, but he knows where they'd go.
"Damn it!"
