In the cabin only Cutler Beckett it was possible to hear a small sigh. Here, was Cutler Beckett admiring the sea from the small window that it had in his cabin. Only, accompanied only by the soft sound of the waves when they were hitting the keel of the ship. It closed the eyes in a few seconds when it perceived the soft aroma of the sea, a salty and marine aroma. He liked being so much in the Endeavor, it was his ship, the insigne's ship of the Company.
In silence he supported his hand on the glazing of the window and again sighed thinking about his wife, in what it had done. His marriage had not lasted two days and every time he was sure more that it was not serving for the marriage, he preferred being free, without commitments, only serving to the Company and its own ambition.

Wrapping her coat tighter around her lithe frame, Lady Marie Beckett, the ex-wife of Lord Beckett rowed toward the Endeavour. Her mind was a battlefield. On one side, she wanted to see him again, confide in him. On the other side, she was perpetually warning herself of the dangers. He was now married to another woman...and the last thing he needed was a visit from the ex-wife.
The issue was, she needed to tell him something. It was for this very reason that she was alone in a long boat, out to sea, with nothing in sight but the distant sails of his ship.

Someone called at his cabin ´s doors.
" Enter "
Groves did not hesitate to do it, supporting a military position, he closed over Lord Beckett and he said to him;
" My lord, a small ship to starboard "
Cutler Beckett, was not turned, kept on looking at the sea, really there was not mattering for him who might be in.
" If the crew members are pirates, sink the ship and if they are stowaways of a ship that has sunk, to ignore it. We are not in trip of rescue if not of exploration " .He said with coldness without stopping looking at the sea that was so blue as his eyes.
" But, my lord ..... only there is one crew member, and one is ...... a woman. Does it approach the Endeavor "
" What? ".
This time, he turned to look at Groves, did it rapidly and supporting the calmness, without saying anything, thinking who might be the woman, went out to wide step of his cabin to rise to covering.

"State your business!"
Marie looked up at the stern officer, her own face impassive. The wild curls of her raven black hair blew manically around her face. No doubt they thought her some harlot, some ruffian. If only they knew.
"I have business with Lord Beckett," she replied, "news, of which I'm sure he will be most interested."
The officer remained suspicious. Marie continued, "you need not let me aboard the ship. Just bring Lord Beckett to me."
"I will see what I can do."
Watching as the officer stalked away, Marie was plagued by butterflies in her stomach. How would she break the news to him. What would his reaction be? Her son, after all, was coming on five years old. She had not told his father. He would no doubt be furious.
Gently, she sighed, "how did it ever come to this?"

Lord Beckett rose to covering and his crew became firm when they saw it appearing.
" My lord, the lady asks for permission to rise on board. She says that it has business that to speak with you ".
The official informed approaching to him . Lord Beckett lifted one of his eyebrows and in silence it closed over at the edge of the covering and his eyes were opened completely when he saw Marie. In his interior formed a wave of emotions that had to try to support the calmness. He was thinking that it could not be alone, that it could be calm neither in the company nor in his own ship. But anyhow, he smiled at Marie, a smile that there was concealing really his emotional state in which he was.
" Granted permission".

As she was helped aboard the Endeavour, her gaze did not leave him. The mere sight of him caused the breath to catch in her throat. A tidal wave of emotions swept over her, a flicker of intense memory.
"Cutler, you look well."
Immediately she scolded herself for her careless words. He would be angry that she had so casually addressed him in front of his crew. She sealed her lips, determined to let him be the first to induce conversation.

He did a polite bow before her and again his eyes were in theirs when it heard his words. " Cutler, you look well. " . Good, his aspect now was a little different to that she was used to seeing. His skin now was darker for the sun doing that the color of his eyes and the whiteness of his wig will stand out more, and also it was a little thinner, to sorrow that he could enjoy truly delightful meal. Lately it did not have a lot of appetite. He do not answer her if not that offered her to go down with him to his cabin.
" Lady Marie. We will be able to speak with more calmness in my cabin " He did an elegant movement with his hand to guide the way. The smile did not disappear of his lips.

She followed him in silence, aware that his men were watching her with apt interest. His smile made her uneasy, as though any minute he would turn venemous again. She knew from experience, that it did not take much to turn his moods.
She accepted the glass of amber alcohol he offered, sipping it, her eyes never leaving him.
"Sorry to intrude,Cu- my lord." She smiled apologetically for almost calling him by his name. It had been a long time since he had allowed her to call him Cutler. "I understand my presence is unwelcome, what, with your new wife and all. I just thought you ought to know something before..." she paused for a while, trying to find the right words, "you start your new life."

Cutler Beckett had sat down in his desk while it heard his words, he smiled when ear...... Cu - my lord , it was a smile full of pleasure because it was known that in his interior it was hurting her on having known that he had married and she could not already call him by his name. In a few seconds looked at the ring of married that he had in the finger of his right hand. Five years ago behind it had taken different other which in his interior his name was recorded and the date of his wedding. These were memories spent that sometimes remembered with certain melancholy.He looked her at the eyes fixedly, resisting to look at her of up and down, resisting to his beauty, because Marie, had always been so beautiful, and kept on being so beautiful.... sighed deeply and giving a small gulp to his brandy answered her;
" What is what I must know Marie?. What really did you have an affairs with Besamuel?. Do not bother because it is already not my matter ".
Every word that went out of his mouth was covered by sarcasm and irony. His English accent that seemed a the hiss of a snake . His eyes, penetrating and cold looked at her fixedly knowing that with this look it could melt Marie...

Her expression turned dark. Her features tightened in the same defiance that had caused them to argue to many times during their marriage.
"No, I did not," she replied plainly. It was the truth, and she did not see the point in expanding upon the point.
