"Ex-friend.. sounds like something serious has happened" He noticed and shrugged a little "I thought about becoming a painter, but that's not making much of a living so I took it as an extra course. So yes, I am really interested in painting"

She looked him up and down. 'There isn't much of a living in any of these sorts of careers,' she reminded him. 'Not unless someone sees you and likes you enough to fund you...then you have a chance. It really comes down to one thing...luck.' She thought for a second, 'well, that or connections.'
Emma picked up her pencil as the teacher explained what their assignment was, to create a self portrait in your own style, using any medium of paint (oils, acrylics, water-based etc.). She looked over to Tom almost curious how he'd approach this subject, as it wasn't her favourite.

"Maybe I have connections' he whispered to her while he started working on the assignment

She looked at him, pausing from her basic sketch. 'Really?' she asked. 'Know anyone willing to buy any of your stuff?' She honestly didn't know anyone who'd half of the things she produced from this school...with the exception of the few modelling pieces she did, but the photographer got credit for those works and not the model.
Emma turned back to her work, twirling her pencil back into its proper position in her hand in a fluid, but not awe-inspiring motion. Her posture showing her proper training, also her more rigid personality. She wasn't one for fancy or over-done things.

"You need to create a name first, become well known in the business" he explained to her "Then I'll sell my art stuff like bread"

'And what if I told you that I was already known in the business?' she asked evenly, not looking away from her drawing. It was a realistic piece as everything with Emma was realistic. There was no room for fantasy or magic in her mind. No room for religion and god to play any part in her life. She had learned a long time ago to stop dreaming about unicorns and mermaids. If she wanted anything to happen, she'd do them herself.

'No,' she stated. 'I hate painting. I'm a model...I work for various companies, maybe you've heard of them. Either way, it was none of my own doing. We can thank my mother for this.' She paused and looked at him...she was certain that he was trying to be cheeky with her. Either way, she was growing to loathe him in a way. Which was a shame, because for an American...he was rather cute. She had already set it in her mind that they would not fully ever get along.

"Model.. wouldn't have guest" He said with a smirk "You don't like it? People admiring you for your beauty, loving you and all ?"

'I'm really fairly ordinary,' she stated, looking to him. 'The only difference is...I have the body of a child...that is probably why you had no idea. I rather it be that people don't know.' Emma bit her lip and took a step back to observe her very rough sketch. She frowned...it looked like crap to her, but she may as well finish it.
