I pause a moment, shrugging..."I still want a.. little farm or.. something. Away from people. You know?"

"A farm? With horses and cows and pigs, and chickens?" I questioned, "Or more like, a food farm?"

"With sheep and chickens and horses... probably not pigs. Only pretty animals." I smirk

"I wouldn't imagine you as the kind of girl who would be suited for farm life." I said, "You seem more of a city girl to me..."

"I am a city girl. But nether the less, the city has worn me down a bit over the last few years..." I shake my head a little, feeling kind of dumb discussing it to be honest. The food arrives as I look up again and I smile and thank the waitress.

I poked around at my food and 'saw' that she ordered me the same thing as I had ordered at the hotel restaurant. I began to eat my food, mentally comparing the two dishes, wondering which was the best. Surprisingly, this little cafe had the better dish. I decided that offing the cook would not be wise for two reasons. First, I had only tried this dish twice and there could be room for improvement. Secondly, I don't think Alice would see the logic in killing the cook and she would probably try to report me for unnecessary killing and she would think me insane.
'I hope that cook feels lucky today, because he is lucky today that I have chosen not to off him' I thought to myself as I quietly ate my pork.

I quietly eat mine too, without muttering a single word. I just sit there and imagine how much easier life would... and will be... once i've left this job.

I couldn't imagine why anybody would want to leave this job? I know she lost her partner, and her lover, in this job but still...
I hear the bells on the door chime as somebody walks in. I don't think much of it until I hear a hand gun cock back, ready to fire. It's a sound I will never forget nor confuse with something else. Before I have time to react, I hear the shot fired. I have no idea who is being shot at but I duck down and try to pull Alice down with me as quick as I can incase they are shooting at her.

I'd noticed a little sooner than him, of course, but my first instincts wern't as fast. The man, dressed mainly in black, face covered, aimed at the waiter, as most probably the owner of the cafe, yelling in french as he did so. All I can imagine, or understand for that matter, is that he hasn't given over some money... important money, I guess... otherwise a gun might not be so nessasary. As I look back down and across to Jeff, I only then realise than I'm shaking. The sound of gunshots never used to bother me before what happened all those months ago. I stay silent, not wanting to draw any attention to us, but in my position I feel that I should help the guy out. It fustrates me that I cant. I swallow deeply, as the shouting between the men continues.

I understand every word of what they are talking about. They had paid the cafe owner to watch out for American tourists that seem to be more than just tourists.... to watch out for us... not specifically by name, but CIA agents, people who would try to bring down their trade in the black market. I can feel Alice shaking and can tell by her breathing, she was scared. I wrapped my arm around her and held her close as I continued to listen. The cafe owner say that only American tourists who were there was a newly married couple on their honeymoon and there was nothing out of the ordinary about that. The man holdng the gun had got a tip there were CIA in Paris and one of them was a blind man with a dog and a girl. Then he asked if there were any Americans who fit that discription.
"Shit..." I whispered quietly, "He knows we're here in Paris, but more importantly, he knows I'm blind..." I add, very quietly, "I think we're gonna be outed... you've got your guns right?" I whisper again.
"A blind man and his wife just came in before you... I'm sure they're still here. He had a dog." The man said, in french.
"Shit... is there a way out of here we can sneek out without being noticed?" I asked quietly.
