I put my free hand on a gun at my hip, ready to draw if needed. I hushed Alice and focused my hearing towards the man with the gun, knowing he would be the only one to be moving around. Everybody else was cowering down on the floor except for the owner, who was standing behind the counter, no doubt with his hands raised. I heard heavy male footsteps on the tile floor getting closer towards us. Soon the footsteps stopped a few feet away from our table.
"You... are you American?" he asked in English, with a heavy french accent.
"No Hablo Inglés." I said in a thick spanish accent.

I keep my eyes on the guy's feet, not saying a word. Sand's might get away with it, but I'm all too aware that I don't appear the slightest bit hispanic.

"What about your wife?" He asked in spanish, "Is she American?" He asked.
I remembered that she wa pale and redheaded, "No, she's Irish." I answered, "We met in Spain and fell in love only a month ago. She's trying to teach me English, but I do not know much right now." I lied easily and smoothly.
"Is that true, are you Irish?" He asked Alice. I prayed that she could pull off a believable Irish accent.

"... Madrid.. I.. don't remember." I glance over to Sands, "... 3 years ago.. I think.." My voice is mumbled but I try to keep up the accent anyway.

"You're lying. He said it was only a month ago you met and fell in love." he said to Alice, "Which I bet, Senor, you're not even Hispanic."
"What are you saying, I do not understand?" I said keeping up the accent and the spanish.
"You're wife said you met three years ago, and you said just a month ago." he said in spanish feeling as though he was being redundant.
"Oh... you misunderstood. We met in Spain 3 years ago, but we just fell in love last month."
"And she's never bothered to teach you English before now?"
"Yes." I answered simply.
