After what happened in Lansquenet-sous-Tannes, it seems like there's finally a happy ending for Vianne Rocher. Could it be that the call of the wind has stopped at last? Anouk and Vianne have stopped their travel. In Lansquenet they finally found a home.
But rumours travel fast. And the word spreads that the death of Armande was more than just a death. Stories speak of Vianne, who would have claimed to be a healer. Who messed with herbs and mingled with the 'river' people. These stories say that maybe, the death of Armande was no coincidence at all. That maybe, she was poisoned..
On top of that, Roux has left Lansquenet, although this would be temporary.
Eventually, Vianne finds staying in Lansquenet too dangerous for her and her young daughter. So they pack again, obay the call of the wind, and travel away.
They blow into another small village, where they open a chocolate shop again. Vianne wants to stay this time. She wants stay secure. But security has a high price, and Vianne has made a heavy sacrifice. She has given up her mother’s ways; the magic that she and her daughters shared. Her chocolate is ordinary. They no longer use herbs, charms, tarot cards. Vianne hopes this will grant them anonymity... so they can stay.
Anouk is developing though, and more and more often she accidentily uses magic. Sometimes even knowingly, because she longs for the way things were back in Lansquenet. And Vianne, too, is sometimes struggling against her own nature and true self. If they would give in and the rest of the village would find out what they were though, they would have to flee again.
A few years pass like this.
Meanwhile, the river people are on their way to Vianne's new village. They don't know that she lives there though. Roux and his friends live more isolated than ever. They only mingle with 'others' when absolutely necessary.
The reason for this is unknown, but it's clear that a secret lives among them. A heavy secret, which seems to chase them forward through the country continuously.
The question is, what will a new encounter between Vianne & Anouk & Roux bring them? Will it ruin the fragile balance in their lives? And is this for the better or the worse?
