"Ye may say whatev' ye feel like, but ye prove yerself to be beyond stupid..." - Jack smirked sarcastically, catching the pistol. - "Why the hell was I so unlucky as ter meet ye tonight, I wonder", - he remarked to no one in particular.

"Because you think with your pants," I smirked. "What's it going to take to prove to you I can handle working on your ship?"

"Nothin'", - Jack shrugged. - "I don't take kids and women aboard, and ye're both".

"You didnt seem to think I was a kid when you were trying to get me in your bed," I walked closer to him, trying to keep a hold on my temper. "What about that girl that was in the tavern? She's one of your crew"

"I said nothin' against kids in bed, I have a thing against kids in my crew which is different", - he smirked. - "Moreover, ye seemed to be more determined ter get in my bed than any other girl I've ever seen", - he added.
"And that's not of yer concern, I guess", - he replied.

"Well then you might as well shoot me," I folded my arms across my chest and turned my back to Jack, "Because I'm not going back to that tavern." Ok, the tavern wasnt that bad, but the longer I stayed in Tortuga the more chance my dear ol' mother had of finding me and that would be bad.

"I don't kill without a reason", - he said calmly, looking at the girl. Why the hell was she so desperate to get aboard and sail away?.. What the hell was she trying to escape and risking everything just for not staying in Tortuga? Was it just her capricious wish, or were there sufficient reasons? Jack pursed his lips slightly.
"What are ye runnin' from?" - he asked. - "Reasons?"

"Private" I said, then sighed, knowing that wasnt going to satisfy him. I didnt want to tell him the truth, he would probably just laugh ... but lying would just give him another reason to leave me behind when they leave port. I decided to go for a bit of both. "They're after me... they'll be on there way by now," I said, keeping the details to the minimum. "They'll take me back, and who knows what they'll do to me then,"

"Why should I care?" - he raised an eyebrow. - "And why should I help? I see no profit in it fer me".

"You're so selfish! Cant you just help a damsel in distress?" Urg. "All I want is a passage out of here," I was getting bored with him now, why was he being so stubborn?
