"I'll answer your question.. under one condition." I lean forward, so that we're closer together, only inches between our faces in fact as I stare into her eyes with a piercing gaze. "That is that you answer mine." I grin, "Why did you get them to contact me? What's in it for you..?" I wait to hear whether she agrees to this condition, or not.

Instinctively, I hold my breath when Jack approaches, when our faces are so close - I feel uneasy, very uneasy. I wouldn't say 'uncomfortable' because it would be a lie, but... imagine a chocolate-bar lying right in front of your mouth. And imagine that last time you ate it, you felt immensely happy during the process and immensely bad afterwards. Imagined? It's the same.
He won't answer my question - he's a pirate. But I can't think straight when his hypnotizing deep eyes are staring right into mine... I blink and look away.
"No", - I smirk, - "vice versa - at first you answer my question and then I answer yours, because I was the first one to ask".

"Fair enough." I grin and lean back on the bed, taking a last swig of rum before putting the empty bottle aside. "I agreed out of curiosity.. insanity.. piracy." I answer. "Curiosity because I wondered why the hell the Navy itself would want to throw an adventure and a bargain in the lap of a pirate. Insanity because any sane pirate would not have agreed." I pause and flash a slight grin, "And piracy, because I need the Navy as much as they need me in Hell's Water.. I'm after something quite different then they are, as I'm sure you have figured?"

"Fair?" - I raise an eyebrow. - "Since when have you been playing fair? When did you learn this word, eh?" - I grin slightly, teasing him a little.
"Sure, I've figured", - I shrug, - "you wouldn't have agreed if there were no benefit for you, Jack, that's clear as a day. And, now being my turn to answer, here are my reasons", - I take a pause, tilting my head to a side slightly and glancing at the already empty bottle of rum. -"You were right, it was my idea to set the plan into motion, guess why?"
I grin broadly: "Out of curiosity. Insanity. Piracy. Curiosity because I wondered what had happened to you during all these years. Insanity because any sane woman - lady! - would not have done it. And piracy, because I miss it like hell", - I laugh.
Thanks for a great idea, Jack.

I grin at that, "I knew it." I state, and I get up contently and wander to the cupboard where I find another bottle of rum. I pull of the cork as I sit back down on the bed. "Now, with that heavy weight of our chests..." I offer her the bottle once more. "Are you still saying no to a drink?" I raise an eyebrow, "It tasts a bit like piracy.. I promise."

With the weight that still remains - I correct him mentally, because... what changed? A few questions and a few answers, but we still are alien to each other, or at least so it seems to me, even though we both are definitely more relaxed now - Jack due to rum, and me - due to being tired, perhaps.
Finally, I smirk: "Deal", - I glance at the bottle and decide that it won't spoil anything, after all, why not have a drink for getting rid of this uneasy feeling of tension? - "I say 'aye' to the drink", - I grin slightly.

"That's more like I remember ye." I grin and hand over the bottle, not minding to share at all now (which is frequently against my nature, in fact). Why? Because I suppose rum *does* make it easier. And sharing a drunken time with a person means you can't stand around feeling awkward to eachother anymore - at least not about previous happenings. Maybe about happenings during the drunken time, but it's only a matter of courtesy to forget the times before. Well.. according to a pirate.

"That's more I remember myself, as well", - I smirk slightly, being absolutely serious, though, and stretch my hand to take the bottle of rum, to become more of the Scarlett I used to be. Our fingers brush against each other's for a moment, and I snatch the bottle out of his grip quickly, pressing it to my lips and closing the eyes for a split of a second, while the hot liquid is flowing down my throat, giving the burning-sensation on its way: I haven't drunk rum for a long time.
"Woah", - I mutter and give Jack a grin. - "Good stuff, just as it used to be", - I say regarding the rum.
Ask something. Say something, - I ask Jack mentally, hoping we won't be sitting like this, in silence. Everything around makes me plounge into the memories of how it was years ago, and for some moments it seems to me that nothing changed, that there were no these 10 years separating us.

"Of course it is." I say, as if she just stated the superfluous. "It's rum, yknow." I give her a slight wink, before getting up and wandering to the cupboard to get us another bottle. Sharin' is fine an' all, but I'm not very *good* at it, being a pirate. I would've finished that bottle by the time she had one sip if she drinks at this pace.

I smirk slightly at Jack when he gets up to get himself another bottle - after all, his problems with sharing have stayed the same - he prefers to get everything he wants without giving parts of it to others. It hasn't changed during the years. But my drinking-ability definitely has deteriorated, and after a few more 'doses' of rum I start feeling really tipsy and a faint voice of rationality tells me to stop before it's too late and I'm too drunk.
"So, Jack", - I say with a soft slur, - "what's so attract'v in Hell Wat'rs for ye?" - I narrow my eyes slightly to acquire a better-focused vision. - "I mean, I know 'bout the treas're, but if ye want it, why haven't ye been chasin' it earlier? Before the off'r of the Navy?"
