I bite my lip slightly and try to supress a sigh that's about escaping my lips. "Night", - I whisper and look up, at the ceiling, doing my best at calming down and persuading myself that everything will be all right. I don't know whether it will work, I don't know whether I will be able to wake Jack up before something horrible happens in his sleep.
And I know I will be the one to be fully blamed if something happens.
I open the book and flip through the pages absent-mindedly, not even seeing the words there, just a blur. I want to go back to the Caribbean.

It takes a while for me to fall asleep, but once I do it's a deep oblivion. No dreams, more fortunately no nightmares either.. but a deep dark sleep of absolute exhaustion instead. A well-needed rest that I could only have hoped for when I closed my eyes. Fortunately.

As some time passes, I realize I haven't read a single word and I've been just staring at the yellowish pages. Glancing up from the book, I turn my attention to Jack, who seems to be deep asleep. He's not tossing and turning, and the face looks exhausted, but calm.
I smile softly and place a light kiss on his cheek. Fortunately. I hope we'll have some rest, after all.

I sleep for hours, catching up with all the rest that I lacked before. In the middle of the night I start to waken slowly, my rhythm messed up but none of that matters.
