When I finish a few minutes later I place a hand on his back, leaning over slightly to see if he's still breathing, "You okay? Wanna go up now?"

"Yeah." I'm kinda glad to escape the upbeat and much to frequent chatting of the kids anyway, which isn't improving my state. I get up and after we put the bowls in the sink, I take Anouk's hand as we head upstairs together.

When we get to the room I lay down with him, my gaze staying upon his, closely, "You look terrible."

I smirk, "Thanks. The good thing about a hangover is that you know it'll pass though. In time."

"Yeah.. yeah." I move closer to cuddle him slightly... though I'm sligthly glad all that drink got to him. Serves him right.

I cuddle her back, tightly. I like having her back. After last night everything was so messed up I wasn't sure how easy that was going to be. Now that she's right here I feel slightly reassured.

After a while I close my eyes and we both stay silent for a long time.

I fall asleep eventually, mostly thanks to the fact that my brain is numbed by painkillers. I keep her close against me while I sleep, my arms locked around her waist.

I sleep too. And it's a good few hours until I wake again, slipping away to go and use the bathroom, which is harder than it seems.

When she slips away, I wake slightly, but don't speak up. I watch her leave to the bathroom and then sit up, groggily rubbing the sleep from my eyes. The drilling in my head reduced to an annoying background noise, so I´m feeling much better.
