I take another sip, "You think *your* wife is hard work? Mine is a nightmare." I tell him, honestly. Deciding this is a rather man-to-man conversation and it dosn't really matter.. "She puts her nose into all of my business, never gives me peace."
"Mmm." I smile a little, not sure what to say to her about all that.

"Just humour her, that's what I do," I say with a slight smirk, "Agree with what she says, and just do the opposite. At least make her think you're listening to her," I feel around in my jacket pocket a take out a cigar, I offer the small tin box to Edward.

A grin a little, "I like that notion." I agree.. looking at the cigars, "No, no, my friend, You are my guest. Have one of mine." I declare, offering him one in return.
Louis eyes them closely, "May I have one too?"

"Thank you," I smile, accepting one of his cigars. I glance down at Louis. "Not until you're older ... a lot older," I look back up at Edward. "Do you have a match?" I ask, the cigar poking out the corner of my mouth.

I nod, going to light it for him, giving nothing but a small smirk to the boy.
We arrive back at the manor some time later in the afternoon and Katherine leads us to the sitting room, which she predicts our husbands will still be within.

By the time the women come home I am still sitting in the sitting room with Edward. Louis is stretched out on the sofa, his legs tucked up underneath him and his head resting in my lap as he sleeps. I feel a lot more relaxed with Edward by now, I'm actually laughing with him as we talk, mainly about women.

I peer in at them, from behind Katherine as we enter, glad to see him again. I don't think we've parted ways since the beginning of all this, so It'll take some getting used to.
"Papa!" Maria smiles, running over to sit with him. Amelie in the meanwhile had fallen asleep too, in her mothers arms.

I smile seeing my daughters and my wife. "Hello Darling," I smile to Maria, "Did you have fun shopping?" I ask, lightly brushing her hair with my fingers.
I walk into the sitting room, feeling more than a little jealous watching them. I sit on the arm of my husbands chair, putting my arm around his shoulders. "I'm sorry," I whisper into his ear, not really sorry at all, but I wanted children, and didnt want him to be mad at me.

I frown aside to her, simpley thinking that she's acting strange for their sake. I say nothing.
"Yes! We have wonderful new dresses. They will be lovely." She smiles, cuddling up to him.
I go to take a seat with them, without much to say.

I smile at them, "I'm sure you'll all look beautiful," I stand up and take Amelie from Elisabeth's arms, "I'll take her up stairs and put her to bed ... I'll come back for Louis in a minute, you sit here and relax,"
I sit watching them, my fingers running through Edwards hair absently.
