I stand too, as do the children after me.. "OH!" Maria smiles.. "Mama, you must come too! Come too!" She demands. I nod a little, stepping aside from the table to head down with her. I pick up amelie, because I know Gaspard isn't up to the task of looking after her alone.
I stop eating as they do, even though I hadn't finished. I frown and watch my wife.

"Papa! I want to get ready for our hunt!" Louis whines. "We're not going until the morning, Louis, you can prepare then ... don't you want to go with your sisters to see the horses? Louis stubbornly shakes his head.
"I'll be in the library should you need me," I say, leaving my husband at the table.
Jane leads the woman and her children down to the stables. As soon as they're out of earshot she mumbles, "Apologes for the Lady and Sir's behaviour," She mumbles. "They do that a lot, I'm afraid,"

I look over at the girl as the children go to see the animals, ".. I suppose it can't be helped. And that, really, it is not our business." I try, unsure what to say about it without prying.

Jane nods, "I just thought, since you'll be living here now, you should be warned," She says quietly. "I apologise, I forget, I must only speak when spoken too,"

I look at her, a little taken back.. "Speak to me however you want. We are equal now." I shrug, looking aside to the children and then back to her, swallowing again, "How long have they been married?"

Jane looks up at Elisabeth in surprise, she doesnt usually have people actually talking to her, just at her. "Nine years, the Lady was thirteen, and Sir was twenty five," She tells her. "I've been working for them since they were married, they've argued ever since," She speaks quietly. "It was a marriage for money but now the money has all gone," She glances up at Elisabeth. "And you and your husband? How long have you been married?"

".. Uh, 10 years." I watch her closely, "I had my son the same year... do they not have any children?"

Jane shook her head. "They can't seem to stop arguing long enough to .. erm.. produce one," She said. "Probably a good thing, no child deserves being brought up in that environment,"

I wish the ground a little, frowning in thought... "Strange." Is all I manage to comment..

Jane nods, "Indeed it is, but as long as I still have a job I shouldn't complain about them," She says, "They're good employers, I suppose,"
