"Aye, I do. But I didn't think I appeared like that sort of girl."

Trent approaches me. My first mate. “Captain, I’m very sorry to tell you this, but it seems that the three other members of our crew have been captured due north at Fort de Rocher. Or Dovecote, what you will. I’m all that’s left.”
As if things weren’t already bad enough. “Do you think we could recruit, then?”
“Doubtful.”
“And why is that?”
“Likely because a ship captained by a woman won’t get us far anywhere. You know, I’m your first mate because you’re the one who saved me from the gutters. You’re an honest, quite true pirate, but these days, there’s just too many superstitious old goats.”
At this point we’re at the bar. I remember hearing Ana and the other fellow speaking about recruiting for crew. “Perhaps I can join one, then. Use my ship as a backup, or something. It looks to me like there’s no other option.”
“Who says they’ll be taking you? With all due respect, Captain, you’re a woman –”
“Yes, so I’ve heard.” I look at Ana, who isn’t really doing much. Sitting there, drinking rum. What any respectable pirate would be doing. I extend my hand.
“Captain Arielle Jayne Langston, at your service, Miss.”

A frown appeared on Ana's face when a random woman introduced herself to her. She didn't really like women so she didn't take the hand.. "Aha.. hi." She greeted the woman and drank more rum. She looked at the woman. "What do you want?" She asked, knowing that people didn't introduce themselves for no reason.

I smirked. This one didn’t seem social. I understood – I myself didn’t hang around with that many women. It must be a complex. “I know this may be straightforward, but I have just lost my crew to the East India Company’s men, and I am otherwise without companions, save for Trent here,” I motioned to Trent, skinny, scraggly, half-deaf. “I also hear that you are recruiting a crew. Might I be allowed to join?”

"Sorry to disappoint you, but you're just not my type of man." She finally forced a smirk, "Though, on the other hand, ye may be my sort of Captain. And I may jest be lookin' fer a ship to join."

"I'm only looking for one thing from a woman," Jack rolled his eyes. He had his hands full with Ana, he didn't need anymore crazy women on his ship.

Ana looked at the woman. "You're a woman." She stated.

"What if I tell you I'm a little more interesting than most other women around 'ere?"

“What about it?” I looked at Ana up and down. “As are you.” Eh. This’ll be… pleasant. “Look, I just need a ship to sail on with a crew. You can take Trent, too, if you like.” Trent looked a little confused. “He’s good with manning guns and, if not that, you can have him swab your decks. But only if I’m recruited.” I sincerely hoped. Perhaps… perhaps I could get them to help me find the statue. But I wouldn’t mention that, nor even think of it, not until it was time enough and the crew itself was used to me. That is, if I did get recruited.
