I grin, as he notes the same things that I did, "He's an unusual man, and you should be able to relate to that. I think he'd be a nice addition to your crew of misfits." I explain, leaning against a table.

Bailey glanced behind her at Cleo, raising an eyebrow slightly. He wasn't impressed with Sparrow so far, he wasn't convinced he was a good man. "Yeah.." He said, looking back at Jack. "I'd be proud to serve on the Black Pearl,"

Jack looked at the two of them for a long moment, as if considering. His sword still pointed at Astoria, but he almost seemed to have forgotten she was even standing there as he then focused on Bailey. He took a step towards the man as he spoke. "I don't mean to ruin all your hopes and dreams boyo, but we don't need any aristocrats on the Pearl. If I was to take anyone on, I'd need a real sea dog, someone willing to sail to the ends of the Earth and back." He paused, giving a shrug. "I don't think you'd be up to something like that, savvy?"

Bailey laughed and glanced back at Cleo. "See, works everytime," He winked, Sparrow just proving his explanation to her in regards to his hair, or lack of. He looked back to Jack. "The Bellafonte, you may have heard of her, grand ship. Pirate ship, she's a fearsome vessel, stroke fear into the hearts of many. I've been the first mate on her for the past seven years, mate. Just because I know how to use a razor doesn't make me any less of a pirate than you,"

I shrug over to him, because I did all I can. And if Jack barely remembers me, I suppose I don't have much influence.. I listen to his little speach and don't see this going anywhere. "Well, I'll see you later, then, Luvvy." I tell Bailey, standing up properly again. I stop for a moment though, and pick out a rather more interesting map and hand it to him, ".. 'ere.. maybe this will make you're dealings more interesting." I tell him, and now begin to leave "And you can pay me back later, I'll be around The Queens Head on the east of town."

Jack watched the map-maker go, then looked back to Bailey. He gave a wave of his hand, choosing to ignore the razor comment. Jack was quite proud of his voluminous locks and scruff. "I've never heard of your ship, but lets say I take your word that she's as grand as you say she is. Why do you want to join the Pearl? Did the Bellafonte sink or something tragic like that? Or did the crew mutiny against you, leaving you without a vessel?"

Bailey watched Cleo leave, appreciating the view as she walked away. After a moments pause he turned his full attention back to Jack. "The crew love me and their captain is a good man," Bailey explained. "But there's no room for ... aggressive expansion. That chapter of my life is closed, and I'm a hard worker, strong and dedicated, that's all you need to know. I'm not going to beg, either you let me join your crew, or I walk away," He shrugged, too proud to get down on his knees to Sparrow.

Again Jack considered the man, continuing to eye him carefully. Finally, he relented with a spastic wave of his hands, possibly letting the man join his crew against his better judgment. "Bugger. Very well. You'll need to report to Mr. Gibbs first thing tomorrow morning so you can sign your name on the crew ledger. And I feel inclined to warn you that if you try anything...stupid...you will be marooned, savvy?" He paused. "So, do we have an accord then?" Trying not to wince but failing, Jack then offered his hand for a shake.

"Agreed," Bailey flashed a grin, shaking his hand in return. "... Captain," He added reluctantly. At least he wouldn't be his Captain for long, not if Bailey got his way. "Oh," He passed the map that he'd bought from Cleo, keeping the more interesting one for himself. "I believe this might be of interest to you. From our mutual friend. I'll see you around ... Captain," He smirked a little despite himself, giving him a salute before heading out into the town to go about his business for the day.

Jack took the map and watched the man depart with narrowed eyes, wondering if he had made a mistake in allowing the sod to join his crew. He'd have to have a talk with Gibbs, he then decided, and have the yeoman keep his eyes out for any suspicious actions that Bailey might be dumb enough to let on. He already didn't like the man's attitude...but maybe a few lashings would correct that.
Rolling his eyes at Astoria, he sheathed his sword. "How 'bout we finish this later, eh love?" Without really waiting for a response he sauntered to a far table, wanting to look over the map.
