Quinn gave him a soft smile, "You don't know my father from Adam," She repeated what he said to her earlier. "This isn't the first time. It won't be the last. If you go and apologise he'll just use it as an excuse to do it again, for telling tales to the locals," She reached a hand across, gently placing it on his for a moment. "It's not your fault."

For the first time in a very long time, Captain Jack Sparrow didn't know what to do, or even say. He gave another deep sigh, then moved his hand in hers to give it a gently reassuring squeeze. He knew his hands were rough from years of a life at sea, but he hoped she could take comfort in the gesture. "Please know that I am sorry, from the very bottom of my heart, love."
He bit his bottom lip, then wondered, "Why do you stay? You shouldn't have to endure something such as that."

Quinn smiled a little, glancing down at their hands. "He's my father. He raised me, worked hard all his life to feed and clothe me. Where else would I go?" She asked with a slight shrug.

"I don't know if you've noticed, but you live in the largest pirate port in the entire world," he reminded her gently. "You could join a crew, and then never have to worry about him laying a hand on you again." Despite his words, he knew she was in a predicament, and not an easy one at that.

Quinn couldn't help but smirk a little, "And incase you didn't notice, Captain Sparrow, I'm a woman," She leaned closer to him and whispered, "We're bad luck, y'see,"

"Oh I noticed," he replied, giving a brief flash of a grin. "And aye, to some, maybe," he agreed as he continued with a nod. "But on me own ship, that doesn't hold true. I've had women crew members and passengers before, and I believe that sometimes they can be sources of very good luck," he told her, speaking truthfully of past experiences. "I'm a superstitious man, indeed, but as long as they're a good sea hand then they can only be of help."

Quinn turned to face him, leaning on the bar with one hand, looking at him curiously. "Is that an offer, Captain?" She asked, a slight smirk on her lips.

Jack smiled slightly in return, his mouth full of gold. His eyes and tone were both earnest as he answered. "I'm just trying to offer you some hope, Miss Quinn, something a bit brighter than the seemingly dreary and painful existence you've led thus far. But if you'd like to take me up on that, I wouldn't be against it in the least."

Quinn licked her lips, looking him up and down. She reached up and brushed a lock of her dirty blonde hair back behind her ear. "And what would you want from me in return for your kindness?" She asked, a hint of suspicion in her voice. This was Tortuga after all. She may be young and naive, but this was a pirate port. Pirates were not kind to people just out of the goodness of their hearts.

Jack's brows furrowed, stung that she would think of him as such, but he could hardly blame her. Indeed this was a pirate port, but he was probably one of the very few that Quinn could trust to not take advantage of the situation - or of her. He was not like other pirates. "Well, can you cook?" he wondered after a moment. "The Pearl's crew hasn't had a decent meal since we picked up that chef from Honduras. I honestly think the man is a cannibal. The meat he uses is just disgusting."
He then shook his head, realizing he was getting off topic. "I ask nothing in return, love, because it was me that got you hurt. I figure if I offer you a way out of this place, and you are able to escape, then maybe we can call it even, savvy? Though I know the shame in my heart for what happened to ya won't go away for a very long time."
