"Of course it's alright," Quinn said quietly as they approached the other couple.
"Captain," Bailey said with a nod of acknowledgement, not bothering to hide his arm around her shoulders this time.

Jack narrowed his eyes and gave a nod to Cleo and Bailey as the two groups approached each other. Gently he pulled his arm from Quinn's to withdraw the folded map from the inside of his jacket, holding it in the air before them. "May I inquire as to why you gave me this map? Though we have done business in the past," he looked to Cleo at this point, "and you haven't led me astray before, I believe this to be a fake." His eyes flicked to Bailey. "Were you trying to be humorous, because your attempt was lost on me."

Bailey's eyebrow shot up. "If I was trying to be humorous, you wouldn't have to ask about it. I didn't even look at the map, it's nothing to do with me,"

I roll my eyes, "What makes you think it's fake, luvvy?" I ask Jack, taking it from him to study myself, I glance down at the papers and then back to him, "Seems to me that you probably can't read it. The lack of ability to map-read does not deem the map in question to be forged or fake."

"So you just go around giving people treasure maps, then, eh?" he replied, having a feeling that maybe there was some sort of ill-will behind the gesture but not knowing why or what exactly. Maybe he was over-thinking things - and it certainly wouldn't have been the first time. He had at first thought maybe the new crew member had had a map worth studying and offered it to Jack in hopes that it would be the Pearl's next endeavor, but perhaps he had been mistaken. "I don't like wasting my time with trifles, savvy?"
Jack flicked his eyes to Cleo, his brows lofting. "You think I don't know how to read a map, missy? I've been a pirate long enough to not be questioned by the likes of you when it comes to cartography."

"I'm not going to bother to make a fuss of this, Jack." I tell him, "It isn't my problem that you've always been too rummed-up to notice me giving you good advice on this area in the past, but you should at least believe a decent woman when she corrects you. I am a decent trader and I've studied cartography since before I could walk. I know a real map when I see one.. especially when it's one like this. THIS is a map from the brethen's cabin, on the back there are markings, with intials", I turn it over to show him, and then turn it back to the front, "And this ink here, this line could have been drawn out by Bartholomew himself. But maybe it's too antique for you to tell these things. The up-and-coming young man you think yourself to be.."

Bailey hid a smirk while Cleo put Sparrow in his place. He gave her arm a slight squeeze of approval but otherwise kept quiet.

Jack shook his head in disbelief, a smirk tugging at his lips. "Too rummed up, eh? You should talk," he countered. He shifted his gaze to the map, jutting his chin in its direction. "Any line on any map could have been drawn by Bartholomew himself. Keep the bloody thing."
With that he turned to go.

I'm not quite standing up for Bailey's annoyance with Jack though, I'm standing up for myself and myself alone. At the end of the day Jack and Bailey are on an equal spectrum in this department, I've traded maps with Jack, indeed, and shared about one rum-soaked night with him, that I'm sure he completely forgets, seeing as I barely even grasp it in my memory. But the point being that out of the two men here, I know that I hold a slightly higher ground. I'm the most educated, and the one that will get what I want, and not let them ever take me for an idiot.
"Not all of them." I correct Jack, again, "He used a specific ink you know." I smirk, and continue to explain "It doesn't run if water gets to it. That's why the thing looks like it has new ink, on an old paper. But if you want to leave it with me fine, I can sell it to someone a bit more willing. I thought you were a believer of these things Jack Sparrow."

Jack whirled around to face Cleo again. "You have no idea what I believe in, love. I have seen things that would make you question everything your eyes have ever shown you. Had you ever the slightest initiative to see anything besides these alleys and the inside of the tavern, you'd know what I'm talking about."
