Jack smiled and took the blanket from her, with a nod of thanks. He pulled it across himself and rolled over to face away from her.
"Goodnight, Ana," Jack mumbled. As he laid his head down on the pillow he realised he was actually quite tired after all. He'd had a more hectic day than he'd ever imagined.

Ana got into her bed and fell asleep after about 2 minutes. She was always tired at the end of a workday. In the middle of the night she woke up because she felt really cold. She curled up into a small ball but nothing really helped.

By the middle of the night Jack was awake again, only able to doze for a little while at a time. He was laying on the floor with his arms behind his head, listening to Ana toss and turn. He glanced across the room, the fire was dying down and one of the windows had blown open. It was a chilly night for sure.
Jack got up and closed the window, jamming it shut with the wooden spoon he'd used to cook the meal and then walked back to where he had been sleeping. He sat on the floor, rubbing his temples slightly, wishing he could sleep like normal people, and glanced to his side at Ana. She was shivering.
He stood up and slipped into bed next to her, he wrapped his arms around her arms to keep her warm and pulled the second blanket over them both. Jack hoped she wouldn't wake up, remembering her reaction when he tried to touch her dancing. Jack closed his eyes again, in a vain attempt to sleep.

Instead of waking up, Ana reacted to the sudden warmth by cuddling up against Jack - the source of the warmth and the protection. She stopped shivering, tossing and turning and smiled a bit in her sleep. Her dreams calmed down too - from people who screamed in pain to the freedom of the ocean. Ana's head rested on the pillow next to Jack, but her arm slipped around his arm, holding it.

If he'd stayed awake long enough, Jack would have been surprised by how quickly he dropped, and how well he slept as well. It was unusual for the Caribbean to be so cold, the nights turned chilly most of the time, but Jack rarely found himself actually shivering. Must be the turn of the season. But with Ana cuddled up against him, with both her bodily warmth and the warmth of two blankets, he had the best night sleep he'd had in a very long time.

The next morning was less pleasant though.. at least for Ana. Ana woke up but kept her eyes closed, wondering how it was possible that there was someone in the bed next to her. She tried to recall last night and there was absolutely nothing which involved someone else getting into her bed. Slowly she opened one eye and looked sneekily at the person beside her - closing the eye directly again. Holy cow. He was cute.. ho- Jack.
She opened both her eyes and sat up.

Jack grunted a little when she pulled out of his reach. He rolled over in an attempt to go back to sleep but instead fell out of the bed, not realising how close he had been to the edge, and landed face first on the floor.

When Jack was out of the bed, Ana lay back down again and closed her eyes, trying to think of a good reaction. Her clothes were obviously still on. That was good. She had also noticed that there were two blankets in the bed.. which ment that he had been cold. Besides that, she remembered that she had been cold too. Ana kept her eyes close, in case Jack would move.

Jack sat up and rubbed his hands over his face with a groan. Well ... he was awake, he may as well get up. Jack glanced across at Ana and saw she was still asleep, or at least, he didn't know she was pretending. He frowned a little, feeling sure he'd felt her sit up, or at least pull away from his grip.
"Must've dreamt it," He grunted and picked his shirt up off the floor. He tossed it over his shoulder and picked up the bucket off the floor.
Jack left Ana's house and wandered to the nearest well, not really caring that he was half naked. He filled up the bucket and walked back to Ana's small yard area, took his trousers off, so he was just standing in his underwear and slowly poured the water over his head for a home-made shower.

When Ana heard the weird sound of streaming water in the yard she slowly finally moved from her bed, opened the door and peeked outside. Jesus, this was a good morning for sure. She quickly closed her mouth and made sure she did not make a sound
