Logan wasn't the only one that who would lay awake all night. Mystique tossed and turned for hours, her bed was cold and empty and she was in a strange, unfamiliar bedroom. Around 3am she gave up on sleep, she climbed out of bed and quietly padded out of the room on bare feet.
Mystique walked down the hall to her old bedroom, Logan's room. She hesitated at the door, but then opened it as quietly as she could and crept across the room. She lifted up the sheets and slipped underneath them, keeping to the edge of the bed, as far away from Logan as possible, but still sharing the same bed. She closed her eyes and attempted sleep.

Logan was awake when Mystique slipped into his bedroom. He hadn't slept all night, so he'd heard her the second she came down the hallway. Now that she was laying next to him, he wanted nothing more but to take her into his arms for the rest of the night. The closer she got, the closer he wanted her. But, keeping his promise, he'd give her time. And space. The only thing he did was reached over and take her hand under the sheets, acknowledging her presence, letting her know he knew.. holding 'r the only way he could while keeping plenty of room inbetween them.

Mystique let out a quiet gasp when he took her hand, not expecting him to be awake. This was embarrassing... But instead of dwelling on the humiliation of crawling into his bed in the middle of the night, she just squeezed his hand, interlocking their fingers and resting both their hands against her chest, over her heart. Suddenly relaxed by his presence, his closeness, she easily fell asleep with his hand in hers.

Logan's bed had been too damn empty for days. He hadn't gotten much sleep when Mystique wasn't by his side. And now she was, smelling all wrong and laying way too far from him, but still it was enough to ease his mind. By the time Mystique fell asleep, he finally dozed off as well, their fingers locked together in a tight grip for the rest of the night.

When Mystique woke up, hours later, they were laying chest to chest, with her head resting in the crook of his neck. She let out a soft moan and inched her body closer to his, her arm wrapping around his waist. Then, as she woke up more, she remembered the events of the last few days and bolted upright into a sitting position. It was all too damn natural, too easy to just forget everything and carry on as they used to. But was that necessarily a bad thing? She glanced over to Logan, her mind in conflict once more. She leaned over him and placed a soft kiss on his lips. "Thank you for not being a creep," She mumbled, catching his gaze for a second, after all, she'd snuck into his bed in the middle of the night and all he'd done was hold he hand. He could've tried it on with her, tried to rush her into something she wasn't ready for but he didn't. She even had a feeling it was her fault that she'd woken up so close to him. She gave him the slightest smile before she climbed out of bed and walked down the hallway to her own to room to shower and get dressed.

Once Mystique left his room, Logan sank back into the pillows with a groan. He was glad that she hadn't freaked out at him, was damn glad 'bout that kiss (no matter how small and brief it had been), and was glad 'bout that hint of a smile on her face. But at the same time, it sure wasn't easy keeping a distance from the woman you loved and wanted. He was aching for her, more of her, and her presence that seemed to linger in his room was driving his mind (and blood) into overdrive. Nonetheless.. he'd keep it up. Exactly because she smiled, because she'd brushed a kiss on his lips. All he wanted was her back, permanently, and he wasn't going to ruin that chance by rushing her. For now, he had his good ol' friend the cold shower to turn to.

Mystique got showered and dressed and headed downstairs to the kitchen to get breakfast. She hated the attention brought to her because of Wolverine's actions. She hated the way everyone stared at her and whispered as she walked past. She didn't even want to think of the gossip going around this place. And she hated Logan for bringing that down on her. But then she remembered his warmth next to her when she woke up this morning and the hate quickly disappeared.
She sat down at the counter after pouring a cup of coffee from the machine. Lucy sat at the counter poking at her cereal. The rest of the mansion seemed to be buzzing about as normal. Perhaps it was all paranoia in her head, imagining the attention, or perhaps it was just because nobody saw her sneak back from Logan's room first thing in the morning.

Lucy poked her soppy cereal some more, lifting her spoon to lick it clean and put it against her nose. She looked over to her mummy with a crazy grin, trying to cross her eyes to look even crazier. "Mummy!" She tried hard to get attention.

Mystique glanced at Lucy and laughed. She leaned over and placed a kiss on the little girl's forehead. She turned around and grabbed a spoon of her own, breathed on it and hung it off the end of her nose, crossing her eyes at Lucy and sticking her tongue out in return.

Lucy started giggling, trying to copy her mummy for a while until her spoon dropped on the floor. Lucy jumped off her chair to pick it up, but 'stead of sitting back down to finish her breakfast, she ran over to her mummy with the spoon to climb onto her lap instead. Lucy was real happy that her mummy laughed again, so she gave Mystique a happy hug. Subconciously, Lucy picked up some of her mummy's thought and she glanced up at her with wide, curious eyes. "Mummy are you and daddy friends again?" She asked out of the blue.
