"No!" Mystique whispered, lifting her head to look at Logan. "We're only just earning enough for two of us to live on, let alone four!" She paused, looking back at the radio, as if that was going to offer them a solution. "I'm going to have to get a second job if they go through with this," She mumbled, she was exhausted as it was, raising two kids with a full time job, but it was the only solution.

"Hey, hold on." Logan moved his hand to the side of Mystique's face, making her look at him. "Nobody said they'll go through with it. So for now, we just stick with what we've got. Alright? Don't worry 'bout it, babe." He told her.

Mystique shook her head, "No Logan, we can't just wait and hope for the best. We've got a baby, and Lucy. It's not the two of us against the world anymore. What if they decide to cut human wages altogether? Or decide to throw us out of this place? What happens when we can't afford to feed our children anymore? We need to start preparing now, put whatever we can afford away for a rainy day,"

"They're not gonna throw us out, babe. But alright.. we'll start savin'." Logan shrugged. It's not like they had much money to spare, but Mystique's plan to take on another job was worse. Not just because they both already had a fulltime job, but finding another job meant a fulltime search. Nobody was eager to hire humans anymore.

Mystique wrapped her arms around his neck, embracing him tightly. It was a horrible time to bring up kids. Human kids at least. The muties had perfect little lives. They needed more money, they could just magic it with their 'superpowers'. Suddenly, Mystique shoved him back and ran across the kitchen. "Shit! Shit! Shit!" She pulled open the oven door and the room filled with thick black smoke. She reached in to grab the trays, quickly pulling her hand back with a sharp hiss as her skin already turned red and started bubbling. She glanced around and grabbed a cloth to take the food out of the oven with, and dropped it straight in the bin before she walked across to the sink and ran her hand under the cold water.

"You alrigh'?" Logan went over to Mystique, taking a brief glance at her burnt hand before he reached over and popped open the window above the sink to get some air into the kitchen again. "Keep it there," He told her, cos the longer she'd keep the cold water running, the less it'd hurt later. He walked over to the fridge and found two microwave meals instead (something even he could make), so they'd have something to eat after all.

Mystique kept the water on the burn until their meal was ready, then she grabbed the first aid kit out of the cupboard and wrapped a bandage around the appearing blisters on the palm of her hand. She grabbed two beers from the fridge, popped them open and sat down at the table. She picked up her fork in her non-burnt hand and started eating her luke-warm microwave meal.

Two beers and a soppy dinner later, they shoved their plates to the middle of the table and Logan leaned back in his chair with another beerbottle. "Do you have a lunchbreak tomorrow?" He asked. With days like theirs, they barely got to see eachother, and he felt like making both their workdays a little less boring tomorrow.

Mystique gave him a nod, nursing a second beer of her own. "Yeah, shocking, isnt it? The muties give us time to eat," she smirked a little, spinning the bottle around between her fingers before she brought it up to her lips.

Logan's gaze stayed on 'r, a slight smirk tugging at his lips. "Alright. What time can I come over?"
