Jax shook his head "No, you guys head to the horses, go out the back on my signal, we're heading south, i'll make sure they won't be able to follow us" He assured them.
Jane nodded and walked over to Nicolas, "Here, let me help you".

"I'm fine," Nicolas declined Jane's help, not really caring about the pain in his side when their lives were at stake. They waited until Jax, who peered out of the window, signalled them that the men wouldn't see them. When he did, the four of them headed out, quietly but quickly making their way to the barn.

When the men approached, Jax found the right timing for all of them to head to the barn. Once they were there they all took there horses. "I'm gonna get rid of their horses so they won't be able to follow us. As soon as you hear gunshots, make a run for it" he told the others.

As if they knew something was amiss, the horses were scraping their hoofs over the dusty ground and tossing their heads anxiously. Before Nicolas bothered to calm his horse, his gaze shot along the walls of the barn, and he spotted a repeater rifle hung from a hook. The farmer no doubt used this weapon for hunting. Well.. he'd have to get a new one. Nicolas climbed over the crates and grabbed it off the wall. Since they only had the Sheriff's revolver before, this doubled their arms. He strapped it over his shoulder, then climbed back and took the reins of his horse, calming it down with a hush as he lead it to the barn doors.

As the men of the law passed the barn, Jax gave the others a signals once he saw the four men enter the house, leaving their houses outside. "Now!" he shouted and he burst through the front of the barn with his horse, heading to the four horses waiting outside. He fired his gun twice, spooking the horses and kicking their rearends to make sure they would run off. At that moment the four men ran outside and tried to shoot Jax, but he was already heading towards the side of the house and then galloping away towards the south, together with the others.
Jane made a run for it, not looking back for one second.

Nicolas dug his heels into the horse's flank, urging it to gallop faster. He threw a glance over his shoulder, and noticed that one of the lawman ran around the house to where the resident's horse stood grazing in a small meadow. Nicolas followed Jax's lead, and swung the recently acquired rifle from his shoulder. He gritted his teeth when the movement made his wound burn, more so with the horse galloping quickly now, but he forced himself to focuss and take aim. When he fired, the bullet didn't quite make it close to its target - but it was enough to startle that horse too. It kicked up its rear legs, throwing the lawman who'd just mounted it off its back again. Nicolas lowered the rifle and grabbed hold of his horse's reins, no longer looking back as he focussed on making their quick escape.

Agnes had gone along with the plan half-heartedly, as she was pretty much annoyed with the entire group. Not being listened to and then turning out to be correct wasn't a feeling she was fond of, and as she led her horse behind the others as they shot away she started to feel quite a lot more inclined to pick an opposite direction to their course.

Whether they liked the plan or not, they steadily got further away from the lawmen now that they were without transport. Nicolas' side burned, and his fever left him somewhat disoriented during this escape, but he much prefered it to being arrested again. He was getting tired of seeing the inside of prison cells.

Once they were further away, and reached a small wooded area with dry but shadey trees that stretched across a good mile or so they slowed down, the sweat poured down from Agnes' forehead, it had reached the hottest part of the day. Her skin was burning, which put her in no better mood.

"I think that went rather well" Jax said as soon as they slowed down, rather content with his plan.
