"Muchas gracias!" Linda bent down to the floor in another dance-step as she finished her show while picking up the money that her drunk audience had tossed into her little box by her feet during the evening at La Ganso Roja (The Red Goose). She pushed away some grabbing hands while she hurried off stage into the tiny corner where she could sit on her own and look through her money-box, to see if she had to do another dance or not. Tonight her audience had been very generous and she finished up with a smile as she locked the box and hid it underneath one of her many scarves she wore around herself this evening. She shouted a Goodbye to the owner of the pub while she gracefully walked through the many people towards the frontdoor. It wasn't too late and she enjoyed being able to finish off her work before the early morning sun appeared at the horizon.

"I swear if you don't keep up with me I will leave you behind, Dev!" He shouted over his shoulder as he jogged in front of her, purposely going faster so she'd have even more of a difficult time catching up. He grinned slightly as he heard a mutter of curses from his sister's dirty mouth as she followed him through the empty streets in such early morning.
"I'm coming! It's not my fault you have giraffe legs!" Devyn shouted after him as she avoided catching her boots on the cobblestones and taking a spill-- she didn't want to give him anymore reason for his teasing. Her cheeks were tinted red by the time they reached the market that had only just opened for the morning. They were certainly the first there.
"First pickings-- hey, where are you going?" He interrupted himself.
Devyn had already turned to start toward the edge of the market where her favorite part was waiting. It was a table of the most beautifully decorated knives and cross blades.
"Back again." He smiled from behind the little wooden table that held his goods. He had made all of them hand-carved. "Doesn't your father have something for you at his shop? He is a blacksmith, a good one from what I hear around here."
She shook her head slowly, eyes taking in the sights of the beautiful blades. "He doesn't make them like this. No one makes them like this."
"Again? With the blades? This is unhealthy--" He said slowly as he approached her slowly from behind.
"Someday I'm going to have these... mark my words." Devyn said in a soft tone, mostly to herself. She ran her fingertips over the edges of the two matching crossblades engraved with wooden, emerald-dotted handles.

At the big marketplace she saw that some of the sellers had already been packing up their goods. Linda was sure not to go to the market too often, since she usually ended up with yet another necklace, bracelet or other pretty handmade jewelleries. This morning though she stopped and looked for a minute longer towards the marketplace. "I did earn enough money today to be able to treat myself with at least something...
Her hands tightened a bit around the little money-box, but with a smile she decided to at least stroll around the marketplace and not feel bad if she 'accidently' ended up with a necklace...or two..
She greeted the sellers she walked past as her eyes swooped over the goods. This was one of the biggest marketplaces in this little town. You could find anything from fresh cut meat to specially designed swords. Though the weapons didn't interest her, sometimes they could have been endorsed with some gem stones that did indeed catch her eye.
Linda was aware about the thieves wandering the market aswell though, so she held her money-box tight, hidden underneath a scarf. Eventhough she wasn't too tired, she had no intention to be running after a thief this morning...
"Hola beautiful! I have some new necklaces!" An old lady smiled when she saw Linda. She recognized her

He clicked his tongue, shaking his head sadly at her as if she somehow disappointed him, but really his younger sister would have to work awfully hard to get on his true bad side. "Why can't you be like a normal little girl and play with necklaces and dresses?" He put his arms around Devyn from behind, steering her longing gaze away from the knives and over toward the rows of necklaces on the nearby table.
"Because you've corrupted me." She fired back easily, taking in the view of the necklaces but not interested in the least bit. Her eyes moved up momentarily as she heard someone speak up and she settled a gaze on the young woman that came up looking so eager.
"Ah, see!" He stepped away, pointing at Linda. "A normal woman, take note sister!" He joked, meaning her no harm, only teasing his littler sister.
Devyn pulled a face, shaking her head. "Come away. Your skulking body is probably scaring her."

Linda's eyes glittered as she saw all the necklaces and she immediately tried some on
"ah, yes, that one is one of the newest ones...actually my niece made the design! And she's only 7 years old!" the seller chuckled
"It's beautiful! I bet your niece will become as talented at crafting as yourself!" she smiled at the lady but turned her attention back to the necklace she was holding. It was made out of real pearls, a bit longer than an average necklace.
The woman saw Devyn and her brother standing a bit away, looking at her goods. "Come on, kids! I have something for every taste!" she smiled and waved her hand for them to come closer

"Yes, kid... go right ahead." Devyn teased her brother, pushing him lightly on the shoulder, but following him over to the tables.
He turned to the woman behind the table, smiling charmingly at her, the one he gave to everyone when he was trying to impress. "Buena mañana, señora. Usted parece encantador esta mañana. ¿Cómo está usted?" He used his impeccable skill of picking up languages to see how much of a deal he'd be able to get on anything with a bit of brown nosing.
Devyn rolled her eyes at her overly charming brother on the older lady selling necklaces. She stepped toward the table, looking with a wrinkled nose at the selection. "I just can't see the waste in spending money on them. They're useless. They neither protect you, nor serve any other purpose." She spoke aloud, mostly to Linda since the woman was close to her and seemed intrigued by the jewelry.
"My sister..." He said with a shake of his head, looking over the older woman's shoulder toward Devyn. "Has no taste... I was wondering if you had anything for her that might catch her eye."

"hmm..." she inspected Devyns sceptical face. "I might have..." she pulled out a little sachet from underneath her table. "Protect you say..." she mumbled what Devyn had said about the jewellery being useless.
Linda smiled back at the man beside her. "Buena mañana, señor." She paused then continued speaking on her broken english: "You are not spanish, are you?" she smiled, let her eyes linger on the man before she went back to look at a bracelet
"Aha, here we go" The lady pulled out a necklace from the sachet and held it up infront of Devyns face. "This one protects you from evil spirits"

Devyn raised an interested eyebrow. She'd always been gullible for that witchcraft stuff, even if it had never been proved to her. "How does it do that?" She reached for the necklace, turning it over in her hand. "Bad spirits... how can you be protected from those?"
He smiled down at Linda, his eyes intensely lit on her. "No, how did you guess? Was my Spanish really that bad? Because your English is quite impressive." He complimented her easily.
Devyn looked over her shoulder for a brief moment to see her brother talking with the girl by the table. She just shook her head and turned back to the lady with the necklaces, awaiting her answer on how a necklace could protect her from evil spirits.

"The stone is called Tiger Eye. It was used by Aztecs to protect their home from Negative Forces and Energies of their enemies
"No no, just...different!" Linda replied to the man but abruptly stopped her conversation with him and glanced over at the woman. "You have aztec jewellery?"
"shh, not so loud.." she looked around at the market. "I only have this one right now..
"But you can make more?" Linda added
She looked at her and nodded
Linda smiled and glanced over Devyns shoulder at the necklace

Devyn seemed more interested now that the girl seemed to think there was something so great about Aztec jewelry. She licked her lips somewhat greedily and rooted a hand into her pocket. "Alright, how much for the Tiger's Eye?"
"You're actually going to buy a necklace?" Abel walked closer, blanching at the absurdity of his very ungirly sister purchasing jewelry. He also moved closer to get near the beautiful Spanish girl that had walked away from him... but that was for him to know and nobody else.
"Shush." Devyn hushed her brother, turning back to the woman and holding up the necklace. "She says it protects the household. I can't pass that up."
