The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen was a group that consisted on just that.It included:
[[gonna keep these short and sweet]]
Dorian Gray
Dorian Gray is an orphaned boy who is the heir to a great fortune. Basil Hallward paints his portrait, and Dorian decleared that he would give his soul if he were always to be young and the painting instead would grow old. Dorian leaves his fiance - the actress Sibyl Vane - because through a single bad performance he claims that she has killed his love. She kills herself with poison and Dorian is unaffected. So begins the tale of the boys descent into low society in London while still giving dinners and musicals for high society. He is inspired by two things: the book Lord Henry sends him that seems to predict his own life in dissecting every virtue and every sin from the past; and secondly the picture of himself which grows steadily older and more vicious looking compared to his own mirror image which remains young. Fanatical about the portrait, he is driven to murder and deception. As others are drawn into this web of evil Dorian himself longs to return to innocence but his method is horrific and tragic.
Alan Quarterman
Quatermain is the Great White Explorer, and has explored many unknown regions in the name of the Empire. After many years of adventuring Quatermain ended up in Africa hiding away from the Empire, until he is recruited by Sanderson Reed. He is chosen by 'M' to lead the League, and helps capture Jekyll in Paris, takes Sawyer onto the team and develops a father-son relationship with him, and develops an unusual friendship with Captain Nemo, two men who in theory should be hated enemies.
Mina Harker
Mina Murray did not know her father and mother. She was devoted to Jonathan Harker, whom she married. She was chosen by Dracula as a target of his 'affections', and was cursed by being forced to drink Dracula's blood. Mina is spiritually strong, pure of heart, and intellectually gifted. Her suggestions and strategic insight make it possible for the men to track down Dracula and (seemingly) destroy him. After divorcing Jonathan because of problems arising from the Dracula situation, Mina became a chemist and was later recruited by MI5's latest team of special agents. She has a range of vampiric abilities because of her encounter with Dracula.
Captain Nemo
Captain Nemo (aka Prince Dakkar) was a Hindu Prince who rebelled against the crown after the Indian Mutiny, Nemo is an adventurer and explorer. He has no home and no idenitiy (Nemo means "no one"), but he is also a pirate, and has developed amazing technology. He works for the British despite his general loathing of the crown.
Tom Sawyer
Tom lived with his Aunt Polly, half-brother Sid, and cousin Mary in the quaint town of St. Petersburg, just off the shore of the Mississippi River. Ever the mischief-maker as a child, he would rather play hooky than attend school and often sliped out his bedroom window at night to have an adventure with his friend, Huckleberry Finn the town's social outcast. Tom, despite his lifelong dread of schooling, is extremely clever and would normally get away with his pranks if Sid were not such a "tattle-tale."
When he grew up he became a policeman and later a secret serviceman who is tracking down the Fathom for his own personal reasons. He joins the League and forms a father-son relationship with Quatermain, and tries to charm Mina.
Rodney Skinner
The original Invisible man was Hawley Griffin, a former student who was so interested in light and its effects, he tried out an invention about light on himself, and turned himself invisible. Rodney Skinner calls himself a 'gentleman thief' but is more likely a ruffian, he stole the invisibility formula in hopes that it would make him a better theif, but now all he wants is to become visible again.
Dr. Jeckyll
Henry Jekyll was a prominent middle-aged doctor. He was extremely wealthy, having a fortune well over two million dollarsand was well respected and proper. Jekyll's obession with the idea that within each human being there exists two countering forces, good and evil, led to his experiments that tried to separate the two. This, however, was not done merely for scientific reasons, but also because he enjoyed escaping the confines of the respectable guise of Dr. Jekyll, now Hyde comes when Jekyll is under stress and seems to be taking control.
Mr. Hyde
A younger man that Henry Jekyll, Edward is somewhat deformed (or de-evolved), and he seems to be growing taller as the years go on. Despite his apperance he can be civilized with others, and sometimes heroic. Dr. Jekyll describes Hyde as "pure evil," and he menaces society at night, trampling a girl in the street and murdering Sir Danvers Carew, before being caught by Allan and Sawyer in Paris where he was recruited for the League.
