During the night, a murder of a rather high ranking nobleman is commited. A hanging is set for the next dawn; but, the criminal escapes. No one, but the military and the governor know who the murderer was. Knowing the public is expecting a hanging, and them not knowing who is to be hanged; they decide to hang May. Quote the Governor, "No one knows who she is, or where she came from; she won't be missed..."
May was gagged so no one could hear her protests of obvious innocence as she led to the gallows; her hands tied behind her back.

Amongst the large crowd of people, Jack Sparrow hid his face amongst his tri-corned hat. Still, the navy in Port Royal was hot on his trial and after him. He raised his head slightly, to see the girl being walked up onto the gallow platform. Giving a sly smirk, he pushed and shoved his way through the crowd and soon reached the front of the crowd.

The fast beat of the drums overwhelmed the the screaming of the crowd as people were pushed out of the way...

Nikolai watched from the jail cell window, with worried eyes... He kept trying to be heard, until he finally yelled out as loud as he could (all to save her)
"HEEEEEEEEEY !!! It was ME !!!"

Jack heard the loud shouting from somewhere, but couldn't tell where it is. His eyes remained focused upon the girl who was going too be hung. Jack held the handle of his gun tightly, ready to pull it out when the 'opportune moment' arrived. He saw the rope go around her neck, then the drums began to roll incrediably. Smirking, the man pull the handle and the trap door dropped. Jack automaticdally pulled out his gun and shot the rope in half. The girl was sent flying down the floor, where he ran towards her and pulled the bag off her head.

May's eyes were wide; scared beyond belief. Her screaming was muffled by the gag.

Jack almost ran off, but then heard a muffle scream as he turned back round and carefully used his cutlass to cut the gag off. He then sliced through the ropes that tied her hands together and grabbed her arm and began runing. Cutlass in hand ...
