Eve Prewett was leaving the local inn at Tortuga to walk to the local Tavern. She started humming a song she'd heard someone sing down in the Tavern earlier...it was so pretty, but she couldn't remember the words. A strong gust of wind blew and she wrapped her shawl tighter...
* * *
Down at the local Tavern, Kassandra walked to the bar, just to see her sister, Evelyn.
"Evelyn, d'you mind giving me a mug of rum?" Evelyn grinned and replied, "If ya don't mind, sis, I've got a long line here...and what with Captain Jack Sparrow waitin' for his drink, I suppose that ye'd have to wait."
Kassandra scowled and looked Evelyn in the eye...
"Yer not serious? I am a woman. Ladies first, remember?" Evelyn nodded and said, "We're outta rum, sis, but it's bein' delivered. Just wait, it'll be here any time now." Just then Captain Sparrow walked up to Evelyn.
"Luv, I asked for my rum ages ago...migh' ye give it to me?" Evelyn said, "One mo', sir, I have to wait for the rum to arrive."
"Ah," Jack said. Kassandra took one look at Jack to know that she wanted him. Jack looked up at Kassandra and thought, Finally, a wench for the night...Now I won't have to buy meself a room. "'Ello, luv, wot'r you doin' down here at the tavern?" Evelyn shook her head and walked down to the next customer.
Kassandra smiled and said, "Mm, good question, I dunno, waiting for you?" Jack thought, Oh, she's a bit jumpy, okay then, better use what ladies love.
"Good, 'cause I-" Jack began but saw a beautiful girl walking into the Tavern, looking somewhat like Kassandra. Who be it?
"Kass," the girl said to Kassandra, "I've got to tell you-"
"And wot's yer name, luv?" Jack asked the girl.
"First I must know yours," the girl said, smiling.
"I'm Captain Jack Sparrow, savvy? And ye'll be...?" Jack asked, hoping that he'd get the girl before Kassandra would get him.
"Eve. Kassandra's older sister," the girl said. "I see that Kass is eager for a night."
"Aye, that be true," Kass said to Eve, scowling.
"Don't scowl, luv," Jack said. He didn't want another catfight when all he was eager for the rum at port and one wench for the night. The last time that there were two wenches with him, Scarlett and Giselle, it resulted horribly.
* * *
I saw that the first girl, Kassandra I think her name was, was interested in me. That must mean she was just a port-wench. But when I saw Eve, I sensed a fire in her that proved that she'd be a difficult one to get, and as I love challenges, and she's a beauty, I wanted her. Kass, as she's called, didn't seem too pleased.
"Well, luv, I think that the two of you make a beautiful sisterhood," Jack said, hoping to mellow down the possible fight coming.
"Actually," Eve said, "There are four of us. There's me, Kass here, Evelyn, the barmaid, and Elizabeth, the wife of the bookstore owner. We did have another sister, Cecilia, but she was hung for practicing witchcraft, which did eventually kill three nobles involved with her magic."
"Ah," I said. I didn't really care, all I wanted was Eve, and that would prove difficult. Kassandra started stroking my cheek. That felt good, but if it were Eve...
"Cap'n Sparrow," said the barmaid, Evelyn, I think, "Yer rum is here."
"Thank ye," I said. "Might ye give some to yer sister Eve?" Kassandra really scowled.
"And maybe one for Kassandra if she stops scowling," I said. Eve then said, "Actually Ev, I don't think I need a mug of rum, I'm not much of a drinker." I grinned. Great, I thought. I can get her to drink, and... Eve smiled at me...a gorgeous smile.
"Right ye are sir," Evelyn said. And she grabbed Eve and Kassandra a drink. "The customer says, Eve, and as my sis, ye best be drinkin' up."
I grinned. Perfect. Then I saw a miniature version of me on one of my shoulders.
"Well, 'ello," he said. I pinched myself. Not again, I thought. Not now, at least.
"Eve, Kassandra-"
"Kass, please," Kassandra said.
"Yeah, you and Eve, please excuse me for a moment, I need to speak to someone," I said and walked off.
* * *
Well that was uncalled for. Everything was perfect until my sister came along.
"Eve, why the hell did you come here?" I yelled. It didn't matter how loud, all the drunken men and women here were making more noise just fighting.
"You told me to. And besides, I need to come outside. It's rather boring in that old stuffy inn-room," Eve said.
What a bitchy sister.
"Anyway, that hardly matters," Eve said. "You know, if I didn't know better, I'd say that you liked Captain Sparrow more than you gave credit for."
"Yes, I did," I said. Hopefully if I explained to her properly she'd let me carry on with business.
"Mm," Eve said. "Go a little more subtle, he'll probably like a challenge. After all Elizabeth and I have read about him, he seems the type who would like the sea more than anything."
Aww, shucks, that sucks.
"Go bang yer head, I need some time alone," I said.
"This isn't exactly the best place to be alone," Eve said, purposely trying to anger me.
"Ah well, I want to, uh, what's tha word, contemplate, me life," I said.
"Your life is going to waste unless you get yourself a respectable job," Eve said. True, but I didn't want to hear it from her.
"You haven't even gotten yourself a job, and in Tortuga, my job is just respectable enough," I said. *smirks*. I can SO turn my sister's grouchy side up. But why isn't she mad?
"Suit yourself," Eve said. OH MY GOD, she's SO annoying for an older sister.
"Arrgh!" I just walk off. There's no need to be near her.
* * *
I walk off into a private parlor inside the tavern where the following conversation occurs:
Miniature Jack 1: Ya know, Jackie, ye should probably side off with Kassandra, she's an easy buy.
Me: But I've set me eyes on Eve!
Miniature Jack 2: Then keep with Eve! That Kassandra seems to be of no good!
Miniature Jack 1: That Kass seems to be an easy one, she does.
Me: Why should I choose a girl wot sleeps wiv' other men?
Miniature Jack 1: 'Twas the same wiv' others like Scarlett-
Miniature Jack 2: -and Giselle. Don't. Besides it's a 2-against-1.
Me: I agree with you, mate. Sorry, no Kassie. Now off with you!
They left. Thank goodness, too, 'cause if anyone saw me speaking to meself, I'd be a goner.
Course I could just say that I was drunk, but still...that dun' be somethin' that Eve might like, do it?
* * *
Jack came back to the bar of the Tavern. "Mm, the rum suits," he said. Then he saw Eve, having an argument with Kassandra, who then walked off.
Eve was sitting alone, with her hand on her head. Jack decided that the particular moment was a fortunate and perfect one to get Eve onto his side.
"So, Miss Eve, wot suits me should suit you," Jack said. Eve looked confused. "I mean the rum. Suits me. Suits you?"
Eve said, "Oh. Oh, okay. No, I don't think that rum suits me, Captain Sparrow--"
"Captain JACK Sparrow," Jack said. "Just call me Jack."
"Very well then, Jack," Eve said. "You know it is rather stuffy and hot in here."
Hot, eh? Perfect.
"Then howsabout you come wiv' me outside in the nice, breezy air?" Jack said.
Pirates=beware. Is this a good idea? Well, it'll be outside, that's for one thing, and if anything gets screwy, I can always call for help.
"Mm...alright then. But no rum," she said, laughing.
"It's a deal," Jack said. He took her by the waist and as they walked out, he said, "You know, I am captain of a ship--"
"Else you would not be called Captain Jack Sparrow," Eve said.
"Right. And it is the legendary Black Pearl, the fastest ship in the Caribbean-no, the fastest ship in the world," He said, boastfully.
"Is that so?" Eve asked. "In the world? Do you have any proof of that?" They were finally outside, at the dock. There was the Pearl, and Eve had never seen a ship so magnificent.
"Howabouts I show you?" Jack asked hopefully. Maybe they'd have to stay on the Pearl at night, but he'd have a wench, all the same. Or just a girl, it all depends.
* * *
