"my mom ran into the boss of the school today and . . he told her that it was 99% sure that I passed my exams and.. will be able to get out of this place..." She admitted, feeling guilty. It was certain that she would leave her best friend in the world. And she would leave him behind in the worst and most boring town ever

"Oh ..." Gilbert said, watching his finger trace circles in the blanket. "That good," He nodded. "It's good that you passed. You should do the best you can with your life," He said, not wanting her to be stuck in a dead end job in an empty town if she could do better ... but he'd miss her like hell.

"I know" she gave him a small smile "I'm happy that I won't be stuck here but .." she shrugged "I'll miss you like hell.." she mumbled quietly "I don't want to leave you behind with all these freaks" she said, giggling a little to make it all seem less depressing.

Gilbert nodded. "Arnie's going to be heartbroken, you know that?" He smirked, looking up at her. "You're breaking my poor retarded brother's heart ... I guess you'll just have to stay to save him the pain," Gilbert shrugged, jokingly.

she recognized that tough guy-behaviour of him. "Sure, Arnie will miss me most, I'll just call him daily and tell him how much I love him" she smirked and turned on her side, staring at Gilbert "What about you ?" she asked, wanting to know if he would even miss her. Right now she wasn't too sure, she had seen this behaviour before, but what if he was serious this time ?

"Of course I'll miss you," Gilbert said, pushing a piece of her hair behind her ear. "I want you to ring me everyday and write to me, and I'll visit as often as I can ... I dont care how far away your are," Gilbert leant across and kissed her softly. Right now, he didnt care if it ruined their friendship, she was leaving and he didnt know how much longer he'd have with her.

Nikki's breath stocked in her throat the moment their lips locked. She wasn't know what she was feeling. Well she knew, of course she knew, but she never thought that Gilbert would be the one kissing her. She dreamt about it, gosh had she imagined this moment (omg so tacky btw, he does the exact same with becky within the three years later! hahahaha) but she didn't think it was ever going to happen.
gather your thoughts, kiss him back! You know you like him and this is not a mixed signal of his side, he's being straight forward!
Nikki slowly but surely kissed him back, she was leaning on her hands but her arms started to shake because of the nerves...

Gilbert was nervous as well, but reassured when she kissed him back. He moved his hand to her waist, hoping she wouldnt notice his hands shaking slightly.
Despite the nerves, it felt comfortable, it felt right with Nikki ... not that he'd really ever experienced kissing anyone else.
He pulled away eventually, and looked into her eyes. "Sorry," He muttered.
