The next day around seven Nikki was in her room, preparing for her picnic with Gilbert.
She didn't know why she was putting effort in the way she looked, it was just Gilbert anyway..
She brushed her hair one last time and then put a jacket over her t-shirt.
She went downstairs, waiting for Gilbert.. Somehow she felt a little bit nervous in her stomach.

Gilbert was trying to prepare the picnic basket in the kitchen, while Arnie was running around in circles, taking out the food as soon as Gilbert put any in.
"Arnie! Stop it! Go watch tv with momma," He told him, he wanted this picnic to be perfect, which meant Arnie wasnt allowed to poke everything.
Gilbert packed the basket and picnic blanket in the back of his truck and drove to Nikki's house. He sat in the car and honked the horn when he reached her house so he wouldnt have to get out of the car.

"Mooom! Daaad! I'm going picnicking with Gilbeeert!" She shouted before running out the door, towards the truck. She wasn't sure whether Arnie would be there inside. When she opened the door she was slightly happy that he wasn't with Gilbert. She loved Arnie like a disabled brother but right now she didn't mind being alone with his older brother.

Gilbert smiled when he saw her coming. "Wow .." He said, "You look amazing," Gilbert grinned. "As Arnie would say, you look very pretty today," He laughed. "Ready to go?"

"yes I am" she smiled, happy with his compliment, she had noticed that lately he gave her more compliments, but she didn't want to look into it.
"I'm surprised Arnie isn't here, you left him at home?"

"He's with Amy tonight, her turn to feed him and dress him. I didnt want him ruining out picnic," Gilbert smiled as he started the car. "How was the college?" He asked, hoping she'd hated it.

"I picked three to go, we're heading out to the first one tomorrow, my mother called the colleges to arrange appointments.. it's pretty excitement" She said with a smile.
She had more news to tell him, but she was afraid to tell him right now..
"So, where are you taking me ? I hope you didn't go through too much trouble" she smirked.

"We're going to the lake, like you suggested," He smiled. "It looks great at this time of night, just as the sun's setting. It's quite, and deserted ..." and romantic. Gilbert frowned, not knowing why that popped into his head. He started the truck and starting driving to the lake.

"good, I like it there" she said, staring out of the window.
you'll have to tell him sooner or later. He already knows you're going away..it's certain now, why postpone the truth?
When they arrived at the lake Nikki got out, taking the basket ,that was in the front of the truck, with her. "pick out a spot to sit" she told him.

Gilbert took the blanket and layed it out on the grass, right by the lakeside. He kicked off his shoes and sat down. "This alright for you?" Gilbert asked, he laid down on the blanket, watching Nikki upside down.
