Sneaking Out

Jack watched as the woman scrambled to her feet and looked around. Naomi couldn't see the other ship anywhere, her heart dropping heavily to her feet. She sniffed and turned, jerking back when she saw the entire crew staring at her with unyielding eyes.

"What's your name, missy?" Jack asked. Naomi recognized him from her book, stepping up to him with a pleading look.

"My name is unimportant, seeing as how my friend was taken away. I know I'm in no position to be making requests, but I need your help." She said, folding her hands in front of her chest and growing misty eyes. Jack leaned back, looking to his crew.

"Oi! Get back to work. Now, what is it you be needing help with?" Jack asked as he lead her to the wheel of the Pearl.

"I want you to find my friend. He was taken by another ship, but they weren't pirates. Kaleb looked really worried when they attacked, but he was gone when I got out of hiding." She stopped, taking a deep, shaky breath. Jack took the wheel of his ship.

"And I do said deed, what do I get in return?"

Naomi frowned, "I beg your pardon?"

"If I go and save your friend, who I suspect is your love interest, what's in it for me? I've got plans, love, and I don't plan on taking a different course unless I'm... convinced it'll get me something good in return." Jack said, giving her a once over with his eyes. Naomi gasped and crossed her arms over her chest, blushing.

"I'll find something, you have my word." She said honestly. Naomi knew better, and she wasn't going to give herself up so easily to a man she didn't know. Jack scowled and looked forward.

"Then I've no reason to help you. Your word is useless to me." He said.

"Jack!" Will admonished. He had moved closer to the pair, wanting to hear what the woman had to say, but had remained silent until now. He shook his head incredulously, unable to believe the outright brashness Jack Sparrow sometimes used. He flicked his gaze to the woman, then back to Jack. "You can't even circle around for her, to see if - " He stopped suddenly, not wanting to say anything that might further upset the young woman's already seemingly fragile state. "To see if we can't even glimpse the other ship?" he finished hesitantly.

Jack exhaled and hung his head forward a little, eyes closing, "I doubt she even knows which way the ship went. What's the use?"

"Mr. Sparrow, please. I'm begging you... I know which way it went, but I don't know how far they've gone. If this is such a great ship and you're such a great captain, then it should take no time at all to do this." She said, her voice growing a bit angry. Jack took this as a challenge, looking in the direction Naomi then motioned to.

"Oh, bugger. Fine, we'll chase after him." He gave in, grumbling under his breath. Naomi grinned and made to hug him, but twitched away and looked to Will. She stood near him, smiling.

"Thank you for saying something. I'm Naomi." She said, feeling a great deal of thankfulness for this man. If he hadn't said anything, there was little chance Jack would have agreed.

Will returned the smile. "It's no problem at all, miss. I know how Jack can be - and I know what it's like to have someone you care for taken from you."

He gave a respectful nod as he introduced himself. "My name is William Turner."

Naomi smiled and gave a nod, looking to Jack, "At least he's agreed to helping me. I'm just afraid of what we might find. If Kaleb's killed..." She shook her head and covered her face. She, somehow, thought this to be entirely her fault. If she had stayed at Tortuga, Kaleb wouldn't have been taken when crossing paths with the EITC.


"I'm sorry. I shouldn't be crying..." She said, rubbing at her red and puffy eyes.

"It's okay, Ms. Kings. You've been through a lot, and I know times are rough at the moment." he softly replied. "Why don't I take you down below, where you can dry off and eat something?"

"That would be nice, thank you. It's nice to know there is more than one nice pirate out here." Her mind went back to Kaleb, and then the explosion. She had abandoned ship just in time, she she had still felt the cloud of heat when it burst into flames. Her eyes went wide; Kaleb probably thought she as head, having thought she hadn't made it out in time. Naomi thought her heart couldn't sink further, but it was being crushed by the ocean below her.

"Don't get too friendly, Turner. I'd hate to give Elizabeth bad news." Jack sneered. Naomi gave him a smug look, glad that he was peeved for being denied a chance at being with a woman. She knew he could have anyone he wanted, but she wasn't 'anyone.'

Will gave Jack a smoldering look as he gently took Naomi's hand and led her down the steps. He came to a stop before his and Elizabeth's cabin, knocking gently on the door. "Elizabeth?"

There was a shuffling noise on the other side of the door, to which Naomi tilted her head. A few seconds later, and a blonde woman with a smile on her face opened the door. She gave a loving smile to Will, then turned her eyes to the other woman. She frowned at their hands. Naomi jerked hers away, folding them in front of her.

"Will...? Who's this?" She asked.

"I'm Naomi Kings. Jack took me onto his ship and is assisting me with finding a friend of mine."

Will looked from Elizabeth to Naomi and back again. "Ms. Kings, this is my fiancee, Elizabeth Swann. Elizabeth, she's run into some trouble. Her boat sank and her friend has been kidnapped, and we've convinced Jack to help look for him. In the meant time I was hoping you could loan her a set of clothes until hers dries out."
