Naomi was humming cheerfully to herself, her vest open now that she was much more relaxed than before. She felt good and even opened her mouth to sing, until she saw Kaleb open his telescope. She frowned and followed his gaze, spotting the white sales with a squint of her eyes.
"What is that? W... What should I do?" She asked, seeming to shrink in fear.

Kaleb's heart began to race as he lowered his glass and regarded Naomi. "It's the East India Trading Company, love. Someone whom I do not wish to cross." He crossed the deck and took hold of the wheel, his grip white-knuckled. "There's just enough wind to move out of their sights...." he muttered, turning the wheel hard to port.
He was just about to tell his passenger to not worry when a shot was fired across his bow, a warning from the EITC vessel that had appeared from seemingly nowhere. "Get below and hide!" Kaleb bellowed, knowing there was no chance they were going to get away.

"Mr. Hawkins!" Naomi was none to pleased with this sudden ill turn of events. She figured that if things happened the way she wanted, she'd die at sea as an old woman was was satisfied with her life and had done everything she had ever wanted to do. But the EITC, for she saw the ship who had fired, had other plans it seemed.
"Oh, fine. But you better be okay up here. It won't do me any good to be worrying about you." Naomi huffed and looked at him, getting on her tip-toes to quickly peck him on the cheek before rushing down below deck. She had found herself in the crew's quarters, but there was no crew to be seen. Hiding in a corner, she curled up and listened well.

Kaleb momentarily forgot all that was happening as Naomi kissed his cheek and smiled as he watched her go below. Then reality hit as another shot was fired, closer to his ship this time and causing him to jump in surprise. His brows furrowed and a snarl curled his lip as he raced to drop the anchor, unsure of how things were going to play out but knowing he had to heed their warnings. He prayed Naomi had found a good hiding spot and that she had enough sense to stay put, for he feared the worst.
The EITC vessel maneuvered alongside the Sea Storm, towering over the smaller ship and burying it in the shadows of its sails. Kaleb swallowed hard and stayed put at the wheel, his eyes narrowing as a plank was situated between the ships and a boarding crew descended, swords drawn. The captain of the ship - a tall man with cold eyes - approached Kaleb as the crew surrounded him. Kaleb glanced at the numerous sword tips pointed at him, then flicked his gaze back at the captain. "You can't pick on someone your own size?" he asked wearily, managing to keep his cool.
The captain glared at Kaleb, his eyes narrowing. "We 'pick' on anyone we please, and since you are offending the crown and the Queen herself by being in these waters, pirate, we are left with little choice."

Thump, thump, thump...
Naomi heard the footfalls overhead, her heart thudding painfully fast inside her chest. She knew her chosen spot for hiding wasn't doing her any good, but she didn't want to get lost inside the ship. But she was more worried about Kaleb than anyone else. From what she heard and read, the EITC didn't take kindly to pirates.
"Please don't do anything stupid..." She muttered under her breath.

Kaleb regarded the captain as a few of the crew broke off from around him and began tossing his ship, searching for goodness knows what.
"I'm not a pirate." Kaleb replied through clenched teeth, his hands balling into fists as he watched his belongings get thrown from his cabin out onto the deck. The captain merely sneered, waving a hand towards the Storm's sails. "You fly no colors, you came from the pirate port town of Tortuga and I'm almost certain you carry unlicensed and unpaid for goods in your holds. How can you say you are not a pirate, especially dressed like that?"
One of the officers who had been searching Kaleb's cabin approached, the ship's inventory in his hands. At the captain's nod, he spoke. "Sir, we found a manifest but no log and no receipts of any kind." The manifest was handed over and the officer went back to tossing the ship. Kaleb could only watch as the captain flipped through the manifest, knowing the officer was right and trying desperately to think of something that could get him - and Naomi - out of this mess.
"Thirteen caskets of rum, a small cache of lumber and other natural goods, and enough ammunition to equip the Royal Navy....all without history." The captain sneered, closing the manifest and tucking it under his arm. Kaleb shook his head and took a step closer to the other man. "I have done nothing wrong! You have no right - "
Suddenly he was grabbed from behind by two members of the crew and pulled away from the captain, his hands wrested into a pair of irons. He struggled to free himself, but his attempts were futile, the cold and unrelenting metal digging into his wrists as his guns and sword were swiftly taken. The captain leaned close. "We are the powers here, pirate. We have every right to remove you and your vessel from our waters, and there is little you can do to convince me to do otherwise."
With a grunt of effort the two officers dragged Kaleb back to their ship, ignoring his pleas and cries of innocence. The captain took a final look around, carelessly tossed the manifest to the deck and gave one last order before returning to his ship.
"Burn it."

"What's that...?" Naomi heard nothing, and that was worse than hearing something. Though shaking and scared near to death, Naomi got on her hands and knees. Crawling along the floor, she made it to the stairs that lead above deck. She wished she had some sort of weapon with her, but she would be useless with one. Peeking over, she noticed that no one was on board.
"Kaleb?!" She scrambled up the stairs on all fours, stumbling onto her feet. The crackling of fire was heard around her, flame bouncing up from the wood that made the ship. She screamed as she watched them lap at the mast and sails. The fire hadn't been burning for long, but it was devouring anything it could reach.
Huffing and waving her arms about, Naomi ran around the ship and trying to put the fires out. If Kaleb was smart, he would have packed the ship with ammo and other things that were very much explosive and ignitable. Smart, yes, but dangerous to her in this instance. Cursing under her breath, Naomi looked up. That's when she noticed the other ship making distance.
"Hey! Wait!" Naomi didn't care if they caught her, she'd rather live then have her body blown to sticky bits. But before giving them a chance to hear or see her, she looked down to the water. It was rippling and swaying below her, making her stomach flop every which way. Naomi bit her lower lip, looking behind her. The mast was groaning loudly behind her, tipping slowly in her direction. She yelped and vaulted over the side, plunging herself into the cold waters.

Kaleb continued to struggle against his captors, but at the captain's order to burn the Storm he froze. He had kept quiet about Naomi, hoping against hope she would be able to get away, but now it seemed as if his silence has condemned her to death. He whipped his head up to the captain, his eyes pleading. "No! There's a woman on board! Please!"
The captain sighed heavily and looked at Kaleb, his face doubtful. Before he could say a word further on the subject however, a huge explosion was heard as the holds of the Storm caught fire, the barrels of ammunition and stacks of dry wood burning with unbound fury as the flames licked at the heavens. Kaleb's eyes grew wide and he suddenly felt sick, his heart seeming to stop in his chest. "Naomi..." he whispered, feeling as if his soul were being torn from him. He frantically searched the waters but could see no one, his breath coming in shallow gasps. He whirled to face the captain.
"You bastard!" he cried, fighting his captors. "You killed her!"
The captain, as cold as ever, looked heartlessly upon his prisoner. "It was not I who killed her, pirate. It was you. Had you obeyed the law this would not have come to pass." He sneered as another boom of exploding cargo sounded. "Take him to the brig."
A fist was driven into Kaleb's gut, forcing the air from his lungs as he was dragged below.

[My sincerest apologized, Coontails, but this RP is closed off. We've something in mind, and it's be a trifling matter to wiggle someone in when we're so set with our plans. I hope you can forgive us.]
And while the remains of Kaleb's ship burned in the expanse of blue-green, with it soon disappearing from sight all together, a man watched from afar. With his compass held to one of his dark eyes, the infamous Jack Sparrow felt a twitch come to his upper lip. It was none of his concern whether a ship was going down or not, but he was curious as to what happened. If someone caused this, and that certain someone happened to be the EITC, than he needed to steer clear. And that did not go well with his plans.
"Cap'n!" Called Marty, who was clinging to the rigging. Jack lowered and collapsed his telescope, glancing to the short man, "There's someone in the water!"
"It's likely whoever it is is from the ship. No use picking up a dead body and wasting time." Gibbs said, who was behind Jack. The man saw the body on a bobbing piece of wood, his brow raising.
"Haul it aboard." Jack ordered, his men rushing to do as they were told.
Naomi was cold and shivering, her clothes and hair matted down from the weight of the water. Her muscles were sore and screaming at her for having swam even a short distance, and her mind swam. Where was Kaleb and was he okay? What would happen to her now that she was floating in the middle on the ocean? She wasn't quite sure what the answer was to either question was, but she was occupied with trying to figure out what was in her sights.
A ship with black sails was that she saw, and that only brought one thing to mind. The Black Pearl was drawing ever near to her, or she was getting closer. Either way, she was able to touch the hull in no time, but she was too weak to even blink. Luckily for her, a group of men were carrying her up. Her body was flopped on deck, a boot rolling her onto her back.
"It's a woman..." Breathed a few of the men, some giving sly chuckles. Naomi opened her eyes and groaned. Their faces wavered before her eyes, but one stuck out especially. One with long dreads and eyes ringed by black.

Kaleb was thrown gracelessly into the brig, falling awkwardly to his knees as he fought to catch his breath. The cage door was locked and his captors chuckled heartlessly as they left him alone to his thoughts, and he glared at their receding forms.
Managing to sit without falling over, Kaleb tried to maneuver his hands so that they were as comfortable as he could get them while still in the irons, his back against the hull of the ship. He could barely form a thought, his mind's eye replaying his ship exploding over and over as the realization he had indeed been the cause of Naomi's death hit him like a pistol whip. Leaning his head back against the wall he closed his eyes, wondering what fate had in store for him next.

Will Turner watched as the woman was brought aboard, immediately thinking of how he and Elizabeth had met those many years ago. Whoever she was, she was lucky to be alive, especially after an explosion like that. Will wondered what had transpired that led to the destruction of the boat as he watched the flames consume the wet mass floating befoe them, realizing there were no other survivors - or bodies.
"That's strange..." he said to himself, his brow furrowing over his dark eyes.
