Taking Kaleb's hand in hers, Naomi walked behind Will. Jack was in the front, followed by Gibbs and the others. His eyes were set in the still needle, until it suddenly spun around and faced the other direction. He stopped in mid-step, Gibbs bumping into him.
"Dig where you're standing." He ordered. Gibbs nodded and dug his shovel into the dirt, lifting it up and over his shoulder. Naomi stood near by, the group standing around the hole that was beginning to form.

Despite the dreary and solemn mood of the island, once Jack stopped and gave the order to begin digging Kaleb felt a rush of excitement run through him. He wished they had another shovel, for Gibbs seemed to take forever to reach whatever it was they were searching for. Still holding Naomi's hand he anxiously leaned over the hole, hoping to get a glimpse of their 'treasure'.

But all he saw, for the moment at least, was the lid of a chest. Gibbs tossed the dirtied tool aside and pulled himself up. He and Jack leaned over and grabbed one handle together.
"You two help." Jack said, motioning to the other handle. Naomi stepped back and watched, clasping her hands together in front of her chest, bouncing a little.

Kaleb and Will stepped forward and followed suit, each gripping the smooth wooden handle of the chest with both hands. Together with Jack and Gibbs they pulled it from the ground and maneuvered it a few steps away from the hole, resting it in the sand. Kaleb glanced at the locking mechanism, then up at Jack. "Have you a key?"

"'Course he's got the key!" Gibbs said, then looked to Jack, "You have it, right?"
Jack drew the key out from an inside pocket in his jacket. He waved it in front of them before slowly moving the key to the lock. But the closer the tip got to the lock, the more the mists began to change.
"Get away from that!" Shouted all the figured in unison, ready to pounce. Jack waved an uncaring hand and jammed the key in, turning it quick. The voices faded, and the mist no longer existed. Even after the figures had gone, the mist was lifted to the sky and vanished. Naomi looked up, watching the gray that had made up the island melt away to vibrant colors.

Kaleb watched in awe as the mists lifted and the drab colors surrounding the crew morphed into a bright tropical paradise. Flowers of the brightest yellows and oranges bloomed, leaves of the deepest green swayed in the gentle breeze, and the waters off the coast turned the clearest, most beautiful shade of blue Kaleb had ever seen. Sunlight streamed down on them from the cloudless blue sky and for the first time since arriving he felt normal, happy even. And then he remembered the chest.
Tearing his gaze from the exotic paradise that now thrived around him, Kaleb moved his attention once again to the trunk, and looked inside.

With the top lifted, a barrage of blinding lights bounced into those eyes that stared at the treasure inside. Gold coins with intricate designs carved in them made up most of the contents, emeralds, rubies, pearls and jewelry fit for a king spilling over the edge like a too full glass of wine. Naomi squealed and clapped her hands, her face brightening up. All thought of the spirits seemed to be washed away with the unlocking of the chest.
"Hello there, beautiful." Jack said, taking a handful of coins. Gibbs took a tiny, jade statue from the stash, staring at it in awe.

Kaleb's eyes widened at the dazzling display of treasure within the chest, his mouth open in awe. He had never seen so much gold in one spot before, and within his entire lifetime he hadn't owned a 100th of what was before them. Almost afraid to touch anything, Kaleb reached into the chest and picked up a gold doubloon, nearly having to squint as the sun reflected off its surface.
Will too, was taken back by both the change in their surroundings as well as the contents of the chest. He shook his head in disbelief, his heart racing with the possibilities of their find. "Wow...." he whispered softly.

"Take what you want, but don't take too much." Jack said, shoving the coins he had grabbed into his pocket. Naomi took him up on this and knelt down in front of the open chest, She pulled out the string of pearls, running her fingers over the intervals of small and large, perfectly round shapes. She put it around her neck, as well as a large necklace of ambers that she was able to wrap around her neck three times while still having it hand loosely over her chest. The last thing she grabbed as an onyx ring with white flecks in it, held in gold.
"Thank you, Jack." She said, walking away to stare mindlessly at her newly acquired things.

Kaleb kneeled beside the chest and considered for a moment what to take, and after several minutes of debate he reached inside. His first choice was silver ring with faceted rubies embedded in it. Carefully slipping it onto his finger, he then chose a biggish coin of gold, one with intricate etchings on both sides. Finally, he withdrew a thin silver chain with a small pendant of a turtle. He stowed the coin inside a jacket pocket and placed the necklace over his head, where it hung just below the hollow of his throat. He then moved away from the chest, allowing for another person to take their share of treasure.
Will stepped hesitantly towards the chest, a look of doubt upon his face as he regarded Jack. "Jack....are you positive this treasure isn't cursed?" he asked, knowing how much luck they had had in the past with such things.
