A small smile of her own formed when Kaleb touched her hand. Naomi liked down rough his hands were, but her smile faded when he spoke. She looked down at the weapon in her hand, running a finger from her free hand along it slowly.
"It's fine. I suppose everything can't be as great as people make it sound. I'm glad you're alive, though." She said quietly, handing the pistol back.

Kaleb's smile grew as he returned the pistol to his holster, a mischievous twinkle suddenly coming to life in his eyes. "As am I." he replied. "Otherwise I wouldn't be standin' here with you."

Naomi glanced up at him, raising a brow when she noticed the look. She smirked, standing a tad closer. "My company can't be that great." She said, looking away. She was fond of this man, whether or not they had just met. She enjoyed being near him and talking, but she still felt shy about it.

"Well I think it's the best in the world love, if you don't mind me bein' so bold as to say so." Kaleb replied, tilting his head to the side to catch her gaze. He meant what he had said, and was glad that he still had to teach her of the ship - and thus presenting him with more opportunities to be with her.

"I welcome boldness." She said with a giggle, but it stopped when she blushed. Clearing her throat, she glanced around. Naomi had caught herself doing what her mum did to lure guys in, and stopped herself before she did anymore. "So, what shall we do now?"

"Well, if you've got time love, I can start teaching you. The winds are good and the seas fair, and t'would be a simple matter for you to take the wheel and steer her around a bit." Kaleb replied, indicating the ship's wheel.

Naomi grinned and nodded her head, taking his and and nearly dragging him to the wheel. "I've got all the time in the world." She said, her hands running along the wood. She took two pegs in her hands, but a rush of intimidation came over her.
"Do you think I can really controls this thing? It's huge..."

Kaleb grinned as he stood behind Naomi, looking seaward over her shoulder. He gently rested on hand on her shoulder, then glanced at down at her. "You'll do fine love, I'm sure of it. Now, just set your course, keep a firm grip and a weather eye, and I'll do the rest for now, savvy?" With that Kaleb gave her hand a reassuring pat, then went about raising the anchor and releasing the mooring lines.

Though her stomach was still flopping and she was getting used to the bobbing of the ship, Naomi was feeling a little more confident with Kaleb's words.
"Right. I can do this." She said to herself, staring out to the waters. She felt her heart beat fondly as she watched the glimmer of the sun bounce across the surface.

Kaleb went about setting the sails and checking the rigging, all the while keeping an eye on Naomi, who was doing fantastic for a first timer. As he passed her he smiled. "Doin' great love. You take her wherever your heart desires, alright?"
After they were into open waters and the ship had been set, Kaleb came up next to Naomi. "See? It isn't too bad now, eh?"
