Captain Jack felt instant guilt when he heard Joanna's family was killed. He wasn't about to let a little girl fend for herself. "well then I guess you'll be sailing with us for the time being" he said looking at Joanna and smiling.

Joanna looked down.
"Not much, I'm afraid", she said. "My parents never allowed me on a ship. I've always wanted to sail on one."

Barbossa smiled, "Come then." He said and began showing her around the ship and telling her the names of things. "Yer quite young but ye might be usefull wit' the little things. Can ye climb?" He asked.

"Yes", Joanna answered. "What does climbing have to do with this?"
Barbossa gave her a job as a lookout in the crow's nest. Joanna smiled as she stood in the crow's nest.
"I like it up here", she told him. "One thing I haven't asked you yet. It doesn't have anything to do with this. What's your name?"

Barbossa put her in the crows nest and climbed up behind her to make sure she'd be ok. "Barbossa.." He said with a smile. "Hector Barbossa."

Barbossa handed her the spy glass and told her to watch out for any other ships or land then climbed back down to get back to his work. A few hours past and he nearly forgot about Joanna. He climbed back up to the crows nest. "How ya hol'in' up?" He asked.

"I'm fine", Joanna said. "Can I come down for a little while?"
Joanna climbed down onto the deck to take a break. She walked over to the railing of the ship. Joanna saw dolphins swimming near the Black Pearl. Joanna leaned farther over the railing to see more. She fell over the side of the ship. Joanna screamed as she tried to stay above the water.
"HECTOR!! HECTOR! SOMEBODY HELP!"
Joanna couldn't swim.
"Please help me!" Joanna screamed.
She went under. She was losing air fast. Joanna saw somebody jump into the water. Everything went black.
