"Then he's a fool," Bailey said with a slight smile. The barmaid brought across their drinks, Bailey thanked her politely and took a long swig. He let out a deep sigh that suggested that it had been far too long since the taste of rum had passed his lips. He turned the bottle around between his hands, moving his gaze from Sparrow to look back at Cleo, his eyes studying her for a while. "You're not like most women in this town," He told her eventually. "And I mean that as an utmost compliment,"

I don't argue with that, I'll just let him have that notion seeing as he's buying me a drink. Speaking of which, I pick mine up and take a sip before I talk again, "Most women in this town don't know anything other than this sort of life. I was lucky enough to know a bit more about life before I started working here."

Bailey watched her with interest, "You've travelled?" He asked, it sounded like a silly question, but from what he knew of the world, most women never left the town they were born in. It was the men that gained world-knowledge, travelled and went on 'adventures'.

I grin a little, and swig a little more rum, "How do you think I got here?"

Bailey raised an eyebrow, "That's interesting," He smirked a little, "I presumed you were born here. That explains a lot," He teased good naturedly. "And what made you choose this place then if not by birth?"

I pause again, but only for a split-second, because I don't like to make a habit of spilling my life to strangers, "Now that's a long story." I shrug, "And not really one to discuss over a few casual drinks." I note, "What about you, sir, what brings you to tortuga apart from the rum and wenches?"

Bailey gave her a slight, knowing grin at the comment about rum and wenches. "I'm looking for a promotion," He told her cryptically with another slight grin, taking a long swig of rum.

"Oh yes, as we discussed, you feel yourself better than a deck-hand." I tease again, "You know, you look rather too young to be a Captain, first mate, maybe."

"And you should be a detective," Bailey smirked in return. "First mate is what I am. Soon to make Captain," He flashed her another perfect grin, almost pearly white in contrast to Sparrow's golden grin. Bailey prided himself on his appearance.

"Mmm." I mumble, smiling a little as I watch him, quite suprised, infact, by how well groomed he actually is.. "So tell me, Bailey. Are you a gentlemen of sorts? Did you come here from the Navy, or are you just rather well-mannered and well-groomed by nature?"
