Once Logan returned to the Mansion, the couple enjoyed a few weeks of (relative) peace with their family. The odd mission came up, where the X-Men were greeted by hoards of fans waving banners and sporting "X-Fan" tshirts. A few even sported tinfoil claws. They were local celebrities, rather than hated freaks. Xavier was spending more and more time at the White House, having meetings with the president, discussing pro-mutant agendas, and even on a casual basis, having dinner with the president and his family at least once a week.
Today, all of the X-Men had an appointment at White House, a party was being thrown in their honour to celebrate the passing of the first pro-mutant bill in the United States. Mystique stood in front of her closet, taking out the dress she'd bought especially for the occasion. It was low back, deep blue silk dress, that ended just above her knees. It hugged her figure and flattered her cleavage. She had matching blue heels with ribbon that tied up her ankles. She slipped out of her clothes and stepped into the dress, sitting on the edge of the bed to put her shoes on.

Logan and Lucy were both considerably less prepared. The two of them walked into the room by the time Mystique was putting on her shoes, only just returning from a li'll jujutsu practice for Lucy.
"Mummmyyy!" Lucy ran over and jumped onto the bed behind Mystique, her messy blonde curls bouncing. "Does a white house get the Disney channel tooo?" She whined.
Logan stole a kiss from Mystique's lips in the meanwhile. "You look gorgeous." He told her, his gaze dropping over her look appreciatively. He kissed her again briefly, before he disappeared into bathroom, for a quick shower and to get changed, leaving Mystique to deal with Lucy.

"I'm sure it does, Luce, I'm sure the president's girls like the Disney channel too," Mystique smiled, lifting Lucy off the bed and carrying her back to her own room to dress her in her party-dress. She sat Lucy on the bed while she searched the closet, picking out a purple dress for Lucy. Once the little girl was into the dress (after lots of complaining) Mystique sat down next to her on the bed and brushed the knots from Lucy's long blonde curls wanting her to look her best on this big day for their species (even if she still wasn't totally convinced on the matter, she really wanted to be wrong about this).

After the shower, Logan walked back to the bedroom to get dressed. For once he ditched his usual jeans, pulling a suit out of the back of his closet instead. He got dressed, buttoned up the light blue shirt, shrugged on the dark jacket, and straightened the collar. Before he left the bedroom, he picked up the babyphone from the nightstand.
When he got downstairs, most of the other X-Men were already in the hallway, looking anxious to leave. Logan walked up to Storm and dropped the babyphone in her hands. "Anything happens.."
"Nothing will happen," Storm told him, assuringly. "And if it does, I'll call you." She added.

Mystique took Lucy's hand once she was all dressed and the pair walked downstairs to the meet the others. Lucy covered her mouth with her hand to stifle a giggle, then accusingly pointed her finger at Logan. "Daddy's wearing a suuuuuuuit!" She announced to the world, to which the rest of the team automatically turned their attention to him. Mystique smirked and stepped across to Logan. She looked him up and down. "Damn, babe, bet you won't even get this dressed up for the wedding," Mystique smirked, noting the lack of tie. She took hold of his collar and stole a slow, breathtaking kiss while everyone watched. "You look gorgeous," She told him, repeating what he told her.

"Don't get used to it," Logan replied, putting a hand on the small of Mystique's back when she stepped close.
The door opened again when Xavier rolled into the hallway. While the professor looked around the room at the assembled party, some pride showing in his face, Logan's gaze directed at the woman who walked in behind the prof. He had no doubt that Jean was listening along that moment. 'Lookin' good.' He thought at her.
Jean gave him a smile, 'You too.'
Their attention returned to the professor soon enough though, when he cleared his throat to speak. "Well, it seems we are all here. Before we leave, I must say.. I'm glad that all of you are there to witness this turning point." He smiled at his X-Men. "To the jet, then, shall we?" He suggested. If they were going to a party, they were going to arrive in style.

Lucy bounced around excitedly as they all walked down to the lower levels towards the jet, excited for her first real adult party. Mystique and Logan walked hand in hand to the jet, taking their seats with the rest of the team. Lucy found it far more interesting to sit in the co-pilots seat and poke all the buttons on the console.
"Luce!" Mystique called. "Keep your fingers to yourself,"

"Owhh," Lucy whined, crossing her arms over her chest stubbornly. Now that her mummy said she couldn't poke the buttons, she settled for annoying the person piloting the jet (Scott) with questions about the buttons instead. A continuous stream of 'what does this one do' followed, which lasted throughout the short trip to Washington, D.C.

Mystique smirked, giving Logan's hand a squeeze, "She's following in your footsteps already," She whispered, brushing a kiss next to his ear, since Logan seemed to annoy Scott without even trying. When the jet landed with a bump, Mystique and Logan waited for Lucy to be done at the console and then followed the rest of the team out of the jet. As soon as the jet doors open they could hear the roar of cheers from the crowd gathering outside the gates of the White House. They walked down the ramp and their feet landed on a red carpet that would take them to the Presidents house. The usual crowd of fans were there. A group of girls wearing 'Team Wolverine' tshirt, a few ugly looking girls with 'Team Cyclops', and even some nerd, spotty guys hyperventilating over Marvel Girl..or Phoenix, or whoever the damn schizophrenic decided to be today.

Logan had lived a long time, and although his memories were pretty scrambled, he had pretty solid reasons to believe this was the first time in history that they, mutants, were considered heroes by the public. He was already startin' to miss those days when people threw rocks at them and pleaded for mutant isolation. He slipped an arm around Mystique's waist and gave her side a squeeze as they followed the rest towards the entrance of the White House. "Where's your team Wolverine shirt?" He smirked at her.
