"Sure," Mystique agreed easily, taking his hand and pulling him to his feet with her. They turned around and walked in the opposite direction, away from the lake, away from Mariko and then-Logan.

They didn't need to go far to find some distance. Already after a few minutes, the world seemed to spin into a bright white blur.

They both landed on their asses in a new time, Mystique clutched her head, waiting for the disorientation to pass. When it did, she looked around them. They were in what looked like an empty classroom. She pushed herself to her feet, and walked across to the window, looking outside. There were children playing in the playground, their clothes looked old fashioned, they were laughing and playing. The school they were inside, the playground out, all looked far too familiar for Mystique's liking.

This time, Logan was grateful for the change of scenery. His thoughts were a mess... and lingering around in Japan, constantly being able to still prevent Mariko's death, seemed like the worst possible place he could be. Now, he looked around himself and frowned, while he followed Mystique to the window. "One of yours?"

Mystique gave him a slight nod, "Yeah," She mumbled under her breath, eyes fixated on the playground outside. A seven year old red-haired, blue-skinned girl, coated in thick layers of make up to try and hide the colour, though patches of blue still showed through from whether the tiny girl rubbed her eyes, or the make up itched, making her scratch it off, sat on a swing set, away from the rest of the children. She was alone, swinging her legs gently back and forth while she read a book.
A few moments later, two little boys ran towards her. One snatched the book from her hands, dropped it into a puddle of mud and stomped on it. The other shoved her off the swing and ran away. The little blue-skinned girl shrieked, landing face first on the ground, knees scraped. She pushed herself to her feet, eyes welling up but she did not cry, even as the first boy shouted, "Freak!" in her face.
The second boy came back, holding the teachers hand, dragging her across the playground. "She pushed us! She pushed us!" He cried, pointing a finger at the girl.
"Raven Darkholme!" The teacher scolded, ignoring the girl's messed hair and bleeding knees, ignoring the boys untouched appearance, ignoring one seven year old girl against two nine year old boys. "That type of behaviour is unacceptable!" She was speaking German, but Mystique, inside the school, understood every word. She didn't need to hear it to know what was being said. "Go and face the wall! Ten minutes at the naughty wall!" She pointed at a bare wall near Mystique and Logan's window. The boys laughing as the girl dropped her head and silently walked across the playground.

Logan saw the scene together with Mystique, a slight frown on his face as he watched his wife as a young girl - treated like hell because her blue skin made her stand out. He put an arm around now-Mystique.. adult, strong Mystique.. and brushed a kiss on her temple. "You alrigh'?"

Mystique gave him a slight smile at his concern. "Yeah, I'm alright," She mumbled, "It's her that's not," She nodded to the young, naive little girl crossing the playground. The 'naughty wall' was right next to the window, baby-Mystique looked up at them as she passed, gave them a big smile and waved. "Hi!" She said to the people so intently watching her.
"Raven!" The teacher scolded again, storming over and grabbing her wrist. "That's it! It's the cane for you! You just never learn, do you, child?" She growled, dragging Raven towards the door, punishing her for the slightest offence just because she was different.

"You wanna slam some heads together?" Logan suggested, wondering whether they'd really do any damage to the future if they helped little Lucy-age Mystique.

Mystique found his hand and held it tightly. "No," She smirked slightly. "I needed that. Who knows, if I hadn't been treated like that as a child, I might've turned into one of your soppy X-Men even sooner, god help me," She joked.

Logan gave her hand a squeeze, "You toughened up alrigh'." He said, while he threw a glance over his shoulder when footsteps sounded in the hallway. "We should get outta here," He figured, before anyone would walk in and wonder what the hell they were doing in a school.
