"That can't be done, miss Swann", Beckett said. "Your right to a jury and trial have been suspended. You are wanted by the king himself."

Alaura looked from Beckett to Elizabeth and frowned. She wanted to do something for Lizzy, but she knew Beckett was right. When Beckett had turned away, Alaura leaned close to Lizzy and whispered in her ear, "I'll see what I can do! But maybe you should thinking about denying any interaction you had with Sparrow?"

The soldiers with him dragged Elizabeth and Will to the prison.

Alaura wished Lizzy wasn't so stubborn. There was nothing she could do for her if she was going to behave this way. Turning to Beckett, she asked, "What will become of James since he's not present?"

Alaura gulped at Beckett's words. She couldn't believe he wanted to hang the man she had been in love with her entire life. She tried to find some way to get James out of this mess and said, "Is there anything at all James could do to redeem himself in your eyes? Anything at all?" She crossed her fingers and wished that Beckett would say something.

"He broke the law", Beckett said. "He is wanted by the king and it is my duty to see that he be brought to justice with a short drop and a sudden stop. It's what he deserves."

Alaura decided to stop arguing with Beckett. After all, he was her future husband. That reminded her of something. She wanted to know whether or not he would expect children from her right away, but she wasn't exactly sure how to ask that. So she said cautiously, "Have you thought about the future at all? Our future?"
