When Vianne stepped back, Roux awkwardly put his hands in his pockets. He looked around for a moment.. thinking about what she said. "They wouldn't hate me. But I'm sure they wouldn't feel comfortable about it either." He looked back and shrugged his shoulders. "I'm finding it pretty hard to stay away though." He smirked slightly, trying to lighten the situation.

In this complete depressive situation Vianne was glad to hear that from Roux's lips. "I am really glad to hear that, I don't want you to stay away. You know.." she didn't finish her sentence but throught it over. He knew what? He knew how things were when he left her, he knew that she would wait for him to continue whatever they had left together. And if that wouldn't work out they'd stay friends, as promised. "you should know that.. after the way we left things in Lansquenette...I don't want to stay away from you either, its difficult to pretend I don't know you or to pretend you're not in this town, I'm drawn to you. And I guess it's the same for you.." With a little bit of magic

Roux smiled slightly when she told him she was drawn to him as badly as he was to her. It was only a bittersweet notion though. They both knew he couldn't go along with those desires. This time, they couldn't really touch each other's lives. Still, he stepped forward and challenged fate some further. He embraced her and pulled her into a hug. A tight and protective hug. "Vianne, I'd be there for you if you need me." I whispered in her ear, "...But you don't need me." He'd ruin her already dangerous game. Roux breathed in slowly, taking in the scent of this woman in his arms.
At that moment, the bell above the shop entrance sounded though. Roux glanced over to who came in. It was the pharmacist of next door.. the one who had refused to sell him any medicin. Incidentally, this was also the owner of this building though.. he was the one Vianne rented the shop from. At the sight of Vianne and the wanderer embracing, the man raised his eyebrows in a frown. He scraped his throat, "I see I interupt." The disapproval was thick in his voice.

Vianne looked up from the embrace and saw her neighbour at the door. "Oh, mr. Cervieu" she said, letting go of Roux, but stay close beside him. She realised that he had refused to give Roux the medicin for Blanche's baby. He was against Roux and so he was against her, obviously. "How are you ? What can I do for you?" she asked, strictly professional, not out of politeness. SHe had heard the dislike in his voice and she already knew that trouble might begin right now...

"I was here from some cinnamon nut cakes." His gaze stayed on Roux, the frown never fading. "But I think I'll come back another time."
Roux narrowed his eyes, getting angry inside. He didn't show it though. For Vianne's sake. He was going on about how he wouldn't ruin her life - he should practice what he preached and not ruin her business. "It's alright," He said, before Vianne could speak up. His brown eyes set on hers again, and he shrugged. "I'll go."

Vianne gasped "No.. no, this will only be a second" she said, taking Roux's hand. "You can have stay and.." she saw the look on Roux's face and nodded eventually. He was right, he should go. For now at least.. The pharmasist wasn't their friend, whatever would happen while Roux, Vianne and him were in the same room, the whole town would know about it instantly. Which would mean the end of Vianne's stay in this town, more drama for Anouk and her... "here" she said, disappearing behind the counter and conjuring up some chocolats wrapped in a nice little bag, "If you give this to the mother of the baby she should feel better soon. It's a family recipé" she lied everything and it all went so smoothly. She had only just realised that the pharmasist would talk if Roux was there for a friendly visit. But the pharmasist also knew that Roux needed help from him, and Vianne pretended that he needed help from her as well. She was just there to help one of the riverpeople. right and you occasionally hug your customers too right? "I hope it will help, that is as much as I can do. I'm sorry" she said, meaning the last two words. She was sorry that it had to go down like this.

"Merci." Roux played along with it, sensing the necessarity of the situation. He picked up the chocolates, then reached into his pocket and dug up a few francs. He put those down on the counter to confirm this visit as a customer-shopkeeper thing and nothing more. He gave Vianne a short smile, one that showed he didn't blame her for this unfortunate twist of events. Then, he turned and left the shop without another word.
The pharmacist frowned, looking at Roux's money on the counter. "You shouldn't help these people." He told Vianne, approaching the counter. "We should not encourage them to stay. They could ruin our community with their twisted morals." He told her, as if in real concern.

Vianne frowned a little. Their twisted morals? What did this guy know about Roux and his friends? Their morals were fine, as long as they were not killers or rapists how could their morals affect our town so much? She held her tonque though and didn't say anything about that. "One of their women is ill, and so is her four months old baby, I am not a cruel woman. I can't just stand by and watch two ill people becoming more ill...." she shrugged a little and started getting the cake for him. "what harm will it do our town if we sell them a few things and then let them leave again ? They are riverpeople, I doubt that they will want to stay on our riverside forever" . There was still a bit of the old feisty Vianne surfacing, but she know she couldn't continue fighting complete towns that were all against her.

"The sooner they're gone, the better. We shouldn't help them to stay longer. The carpenter wanted to sell them goods for repair, but fortunately the head of school managed to change his mind about that." He paused, narrowing his eye in suspicion. "You're not going to befriend these people, are you?"

She wanted to slap the guy for being so stupid. He had no idea what kind of people they were, what lovely caring people they were. Just because they were outsiders everybody was afraid of them. It was ridiculous. "No, I guess not. The town would probably be against that" she muttered, not able to maintain her calm attitude towards all of this, it was personal now. "They are just people, I'm not going to refuse people, that is bad for business" she said, knowing that that wasn't the real reason. "..And has anyone ever thought of the idea that they might leave sooner once they've repaired whatever they need to repair?" she shook her head, clearly dissatisfied with the way they treated the riverpeople.
