"Maybe," Roux said. Fact of the matter was, he knew it for sure, but it seemed like a wise idea not to speak those thoughts out loud. He cupped Vianne's face in his hands and gave her a sweet smile, "But I don't have a thing for her anymore. I have a thing for you. Which I told her." He promised.

She stared at Roux and closed her eyes for a second "I know, I trust you" she said, not wanting him to feel as if she didn't trust him, cause she did "I just think that we have to watch out for her, you never know what she could do to get you back or get back at you... people can change, Roux "

"I know.. but Sophie has a heart of gold. It'll be fine, Vianne. Please don't worry." Roux told her, pulling her into an embrace.

"Okay..fine, I won't" she gave in and sighed "I'm going to bed now.." she mumbled, not really sure how she felt about all of this. She never had to compete with another woman over a man, so when Sophie came in her territory and started mving about her house it felt very unpleasant. She hoped it would be nothing to worry about in the end, but her mind wasn't settled.

"I'll come with you." Roux brushed a kiss on her cheek and kept a hand on her back while they went upstairs together, to their bedroom. In the back of his mind he remembered his appointment, his intention to leave in the middle of the night to fix the gypsies' boat. It was an unfortunate timing now that the mood was already so low... but he hoped Vianne would never notice. He'd make sure to be back before she'd wake up.

Vianne quickly put on her nightdress and crawled into bed, she turned on her side, her back towards Roux. She was not in the happy state she was in before he had left to come to Sophie's rescue. "Good night" she mumbled.

Roux got into the back next to her after he undressed, and brushed a kiss on the side of her neck, "Sleep tight, cherie." He told her in a mumble. He turned off the light on the their nightstand, but didn't go to sleep.
A couple of hours later, at 3 in the morning, Roux was still awake. Outside, the bells of a churck announced the time to the otherwise dead silent night. He looked over to Vianne to make sure that she was sleeping. When he was absolutely positive that she was, he got out of the bed, silently got dressed, and left the room. The front door fell shut behind him with a soft 'click' moments later, before he disappeared in the dark of the night.

Vianne didn't suspect a thing and continued sleeping. The next morning when she woke up at seven it took her thrice as much effort to wake up Roux, luckily she didn't think anything of it.

Roux was still groggy with sleep some twenty minutes later, when they were all downstairs and at the breakfast table - munching on some homemade pain au chocolat. Anouk was chatting about her new school, quite excited to go there today. Roux's mind wasn't with her story though. He was thinking 'bout the riverpeople, and how they could finally head south with their new engine - and he was thinking 'bout how he was gonna make sure nobody at work realized that some supplies were missing. If he was alone today, he could always make up some imaginary customer to explain the missing parts. While he considered that, he didn't hear Anouk's childish voice until a few minutes later.
"Rouuuux!" Anouk whined.
"What? What's up, petite?" Roux finally turned his attention to her.
"Can we go to the river Seine tonight to see the light on the water, can we can we?" Anouk threw a pleading look at her mother as well.

"hm.. " Vianne thought about it for a moment and smirked "How about we'll do a picknick tonight at the seine, after school we can pick up Roux at work..?" She looked at both Roux and Anouk to see if they liked the idea.
