Broken Notes

[PirateOTC]

The cops tried to talk the girl down with a megaphone, but she didn't listen. Instead she turned around when she heard Jadyn scream 'daddy'.
Thomas was breathing heavily after had been running all the stairs up on the roof.

"What is she doing?" a cop asked another one as they saw the girl turn around. Thomas wasn't in sight yet

"Let her down"
he said in a very calm but determined voice

She didn't say anything back. Just looked down at Jadyn after some minute and stroke her hair
"She looks just like you..--

"Put her down"

"--and me"

Oh fucking wonderful...
He licked his lips, trying to not say anything that might upset the girl
"...What's..what's your name, girl?"

"You should know..."

He swallowed. Couldn't say anything wrong now
"Put Jadyn down"

"She's so pretty...she should be with me..and you"

"Yeah...just put her down okey and we can talk"
He couldn't afford to freak out now

[Devyn]

"THOMAS!" Alex shouted when the girl turned away and was looking at something or someone else-- it had to be Thomas, there was no way that it wasn't him.

The girl looked down when she heard Alex
"I bet she's scared now..."

"Aren't you?"

She faced him again
"Of what? Falling?" she smirked
"I know you'd fall with me and it would be anything but scary!"

"Really? ....so what do you want?"

"My family...you and Jadyn" she stroke Jadyns cheek again

"It's not your family...hey, why don't you tell me your name"

"Lily"

"Lily. Please, put Jadyn down, let's make this all about you and me and leave her out of this okey?"

"But we can't. She belongs to you and me"
she took a step closer to the edge

Thomas took a step closer
"Please..?"

"You haven't replied to my letters, why haven't you replied, Thomas? And when I've been waiting in line for you to sign something, a cd, a t-shirt..you never looked me in the eyes or signed everything.." She looked at Jadyn as she spoke

He swallowed. He certainly didn't remember this fangirl, but she was obviously one of those maniacs. He was very limited up here on the windy rooftop though and with his little daughter that close to the edge, he couldn't risk anything.
"You know...life as a rockstar...pretty tough. That's why I...retired for a while"

"....tell me how you feel now. You feel...hopeless? helpless?" she looked at him

He swallowed and took a breath

"Doesn't feel so good, does it? See...Jadyn was suppose to be mine..and yours! Not...'hers'" She didn't use Alex name.
"Now you know how I've felt for years...helpless...hopeless...trying to reach out but never being able to reach all the way" she looked at him and took another step back

"Look...please..-" he reached out his arm towards her

"Sing for me"

"...what?"

"Sing, damn it!!" she burst out, making Jadyn start crying loudly

"Alright, alright! ...alright..."
He swallowed, his mind was racing he had such a hard time finding the lyrics to his own songs, but finally he started singing softly;
"I think I'm dumb...or maybe just happy..." and continued singing that song. He saw how the girls expression softened and her underlip trembled, but she didn't let go of Jadyn. Slowly, slowly Thomas took small steps closer as he sang 'Dumb', looking into the girls eyes

[Devyn]

Alex turned to the cop that was still holding her tightly, "let go! I can't see them anymore! We have to go up there! I need to find out what's going on! Now!"

He still held her
"No, I really think that he's negotiating or something...interference might be wrong now...and we have a net" he meant the big net that the cops and medics were starting to put out undereath the roof now
He ordered his men to take it easy now since Thomas was up there as well now

Thomas kept singing and after what felt like an eternity, he was right infront of the girl and now all three of them were visible from below.
"There.." he said as he finished the song

She started sobbing and leaned her head against Thomas chest, but still holding Jadyn tight

"Lily... Lily, I need you to let Jadyn down"
He felt relieved now that he had Jadyn and Lily close now, but he shouldn't have breathed that sigh of relief. Lily tore away from him, still holding Jadyn and moving backwards towards the edge again

"Tell me you love me! No! You don't love that whore Alex! She's a crack-whore! I've been trying to warn you for long now! You don't listen! Why don't you listen?! I'm the one for you!"

She was dangerously close to the edge now, freaking out and Jadyn cried heavily

"Calm down, damn it! Lily, please! Don't do this, if you take one more step, I swear--"

She stopped. Smirked. Her tears running down her cheeks
"Swear what?"
She took another step backwards, swaying on the edge now.

Thomas swallowed his words.
"Lily, please.. let her down"

"Let her down? She's going with me, Thomas! She belongs to me and you! You're so blind! You're so fucking blind!! I cut myself for you, Thomas! I bleed for you! I do anything for you!"

"Lily...--"

"And I'm gonna die for you, that's what I swore years ago! Well, I'm taking what belongs to me with me!"

And Lily took the last step.
Falling backwards over the edge with Jadyn in her arms.
From that point Thomas didn't hear or felt anything.
Time seemed to stop or at least go in superslowmotion as Thomas ran towards the falling girls.
Everybody's eyes widened. The cops. The medics. The on-lookers.
Lily let go of Jadyn during the fall and Thomas reached out. The only thing going through his otherwise blank mind now was that if Jadyn died, she would at least die in his arms and not in Lilys. He didn't know what they fell towards, other than a certain death, but there was no way that Jadyn should have to face it without him.
He grabbed his tiny daughter in the air, held her so close to his chest and managed to turn so that his back would hit the ground first and not Jadyn...and he blacked out. He wanted to sing for Jadyn to calm her. Daddy was right there. Maybe he did sing... the icecold wind, the screams...he didn't know what he was doing, but he felt Jadyn in his arms.

The net had just been stretched out underneath them as they came falling down helpessly. Lilly with her head first and Thomas with his back first, holding onto Jadyn.

[Devyn]

Alex turned her face away from the sight when she saw them falling, her throat so dry that she couldn't even let out a shout or a scream of panic. But it flooded her whole body and for the first time in the world she wished she'd been quick enough to pray-- but she wasn't.

Thomas couldn't hear anything until his eyes fluttered. Closed. Opened. Closed. Opened. Was he dead? Was Jadyn dead?
He was laying on his back in the net, still holding onto Jadyn.
Closed.
Opened.
Closed.
Opened.
Breathing.
Breathing... that means you're alive
Hearing...commotion...crying...a babys crying...Jadyn. Jadyn!
"JADYN!"
He quickly came out of his paralyzed state, feeling trapped in the net as he tried to move and look at his crying daughter in his arms.
We made it??

Cops and medics ran up to them to help them, but Thomas didn't hear what they all shouted

[Devyn]

Alex pushed off the cop with some amount of force now, stumbling over to where they were lowering the net, ignoring the girl that was in it for now, trying to get to Thomas and Jadyn first.

Lily was taken care of. Thomas was still dizzy and asking for Alex, pushing away the medics and cops' hands and reached for Alex as he saw her face closer among the cops now
"Alex..!"

[Devyn]

Alex caught her hands around his face, kissing him quickly, "Are you alright?" She asked in a hushed tone, "Where's Jadyn?"
