An angry frown came to Logan's face. He he put his arms around Mystique and embraced her tightly, but unlike Mystique, he didn't instantly worry 'bout how they were going to live on one crappy salary. 'Stead, he was boiling with anger. Nobody pushed his girl 'round like that. 'Specially not some asshole mutant who thought he owned the world. "That sonofabitch," He growled angrily.

"I know," Mystique mumbled, burying her face in his shoulder. "What are we going to do? We can't live on your pay and nobody will hire a human - a human with no qualifications that's only good for a personal answering machine," She tightened her grip on him.

"Anyone with a little brain left in their mutant skulls would hire you." Logan grumbled, but he knew that the chances were slim, just because her DNA wasn't upgraded enough. It was total bullshit, but it was the truth. He pulled apart from Mystique enough to look into her eyes. With his thumb he wiped a tear from her cheek, although the only result was that her cheek was smudged with grime 'stead of make-up. "Who the hell does he think he is," Logan growled under his breath, his anger still building up as he saw his girlfriend upset like this.

"Magneto, ruler of the mutant utopia," Mystique reminded him. She wiped her palm across her own cheeks, wiping away the tears, make up and grime. "We're gonna be relying on you winning those fights now, you'll be fighting so your kids can eat," She mumbled.

"So I'll win," Logan said, looking into her eyes. All hope wasn't lost yet - hell, if he'd be fighting to put dinner on the table, so be it. Nonetheless, he knew it wouldn't take away Mystique's worries. Logan drew her into his embrace again, brushing a kiss on her cheek. "Someone needs to beat some sense into that life sized magnet." He grumbled under his breath. Logan would gladly be the one to do it.

"Feel free," Mystique said with a roll of her eyes, she pulled back to look into his eyes, her fingers brushing his cheeks. "He's not my boss anymore,"

"That's the one good thing," Logan told her, looking back into her eyes. "We'll figure this out, babe, don't worry."

"Easier said than done," Mystique forced a smile. Logan's superior held out a box of tissues to her, Mystique smiled and wiped her face and blew her nose. "I'll let you get back to work," She said, the superior's reappearance reminding her that every minute she was keeping Logan from working, more and more money was being knocked off his pay check. "I can come back at one if you still want to go for lunch,"

"Yeah, do that." Logan told Mystique. He could've told her to go home and stay there, give Marie the day off, save them some money now that she lost her job. But she was so upset he rather wanted to see her again, to make sure she held it together. And he couldn't leave work or they'd both be jobless. He took her hand when she stood up, pulling her closer for a kiss. He put a hand on her cheek and made her look at him, "We'll be fine, babe." He promised her.

"We'll have to be," Mystique forced another smile and gave him one last kiss. "I'll see you at one," She left the trailer and headed back home, although he didn't say it out loud, Mystique had the same idea Logan did, give Marie time off, save money. It was the first thing she thought while walking from her building to his construction site.
