Billie sat up and looked at him for a long moment. So they did have something in common. That was major too. They both raised a sibling and both siblings were young. "Devin.." She said. "My brother. He was only ten."

"What happened to him?" Colt asked.

Billie was trying to picture how different Cole probably was with his little sister when he asked his question. She stayed silent for a long time then finally spoke, "Same thing that happened to everyone else." She said. "We were all at the bar after a long day out hunting. We took Devin out for the first time and he even almost got a deer." She smiled and enjoyed that memory for a moment, "After, we all went to the bar to celebrate. Since it was a small family place there was no problem with having Devin there. I was behind the bar serving everyone when they came in through the front door. There was about ten, maybe fifteen walkers blocking the door. No one knew what the hell they were. We've never seen anything like it before but as soon as they started attacking - eating - people, I snatched up Devin." She shook her head, "He was already bit though. I didn't know what that meant at the time. It only took a week before he became...." She stopped and felt a tear roll down her cheek.

Colt held back his own tears. He put his hands on Billie's face and wiped her tear away with his thumb. He wrapped his arms around her and let her cry on his shoulder.

Billie didn't really sob - she's done enough of that - but she did let a few more tears fall. Finally she pulled away and wiped the last of the wetness from her cheeks. "sorry.." She said.

Without thinking about what she was doing, Billie pressed her lips against his and wrapped her arms around him

Colt smiled.
"You're lucky your brother's alive in a weird way", he said. "Marion's gone."

She shook her head. "But he's not.. Not really." She said. "If that ever happened to me... Well I think I'd rather be dead."
With a sigh she asked, "What happened to her?"

"Marion and I were out in the fields. I took her out to play when we saw a huge number of them coming. We ran and looked for somewhere to hide. The only thing around was an old barn. It was dark and I...lit a lantern. I told Marion to hide somewhere. They broke in. I tried to fight them, but the lantern got knocked out of my hands and lit the place on fire."
Colt covered his eyes as he stopped.
"I couldn't find Marion. She burned to death with the rest of them."
