"You should be. Regardless of your own conviction, I'd bet a shiny penny you'll find you've missed life on sea. Even when one takes into account all of the damnation and certain death that comes with it." I tell her, with a smirk that betrays just how sure I am of my own judgement.

"I guess you'll never know whether I missed all this tossing and turning, Jack." I figure if I distance myself from him, he won't be able to hurt me again. "Just another thing to add to the divine mystery that is Rae."

The corner of my lips curls up in a lopsided grin, "All myths and riddles, ye are." I finished the apple I was eating and toss the core overboard, before I casually tap my hat at her. "Lemme know when you're interested in a toss or turn again, eh?" I smirk, before saunter off, making my path back to the helm of my ship.

Below decks I don't allow the tension of the conversation get away from me, I sit away from the rest of the crew, boiling in my own annoyance and anger at everything once more. I haven't learnt much in the years I've been away, apart from gathering more and more reasons to hate the world I live in. Why I still struggle on was a mystery until now, at least this voyage gives me a reason. Before my only will in life was to destroy the man who made me this way, which ironically gave him more pleasure than it gave me.
I close my eyes and tilt my head back, frowning. I'm tired of these people already, Lord help me with the rest of this bloody journey.
