"That's just not cool, man." Sera frowned at Doug, picking her friends side. She didn't care that much if people asked her why she lived on the streets - but she knew that Stacy was very secretive and very protective about her past. And she didn't want this new guy to upset her friend. Easy as that.
Tom tried to divert the conversation to another path, trying to cover up for what Doug apparently shouldn't have asked. "So anyway," He zipped open his coat, "Do you guys like.. stay anywhere? Doug and me, we had found this empty flat a while ago. That was cool. But they demolished it." He shrugged, "Do you guys have anything like that?"

Being suspicious of anyone, Stacy was still suspicious of these guys. Perhaps it was the fact that they hadn't been on the street long enough, or maybe there was more to this pretty boy with the scruffy look.. Anyway, all the questions tipped her off to think that they were out for something.. but what? she couldn't figure it out. "Yeah, some kinda lodge, empty, Christian found it one day, let us all stay there at night, he said he owned the place during the day, to do god knows what" she smirked "but yeah, I guess its ours for the taking now, since it getting colder I think we needa use it during the day as well"
Doug shut up this time, he had asked the wrong question because he had no idea what was okay to ask and what was none of his business.. He knew they needed to befriend these girls in order to get closer to everyone else of the group, but it wouldn't help if they forced themselves on these girls.

"That's cool." Tom figured.
Meanwhile, an elderly couple got up from the table next to theirs. They left some money as a tip for the waitress on their table, fetched their coats and left. Sera immediately got up. "Gotta pee!" She grinned. She moved towards the toilets, passing the table of the elderly couple on the way and swiftly sweeping the two dollarbills from the wood on her way. They disappeared in her pockets.
Tom had watched it, and smirked slightly. "She's fast."

Stacy nodded, grinning "even I can't keep up with her, watch and learn, she'll teach ya valuable stuff on the street" she smiled and watched her friend disappear in the ladiesroom. If it wasn't for Sera Stacy would not have been able to keep this life up for so long. The first six months when she was out on her own on the streets she was nearly killing herself, she mingled with the wrong people on the street, since she had no idea who could be trusted. If it wasn't for Sera showing up she would have probably ended up like Christian, only not murdered..

Tom smirked, "I bet." Somehow it was sorta reassuring to him to know these two girls sticked close together. He wouldn't want to read their names in the papers next, after all. They seemed so young - too young for a life like this. Even that Chris had been at least twenty or something. These girls still had so many chances. Bullshit though. That was his optimistic side talking. Looking at the way they lived, he doubted anyone would give them a chance for a better life at all..
Tom shook off his coat. It was warm enough in the coffeeshop and it would be of better use once they were gonna be outside again. He pushed up the sleeves of his grey sweater, and looked at Stacy, curiously wondering how she put up with this life.

Stacy glanced at Tom, noticing he was staring at her, she smirked a bit "What?" she asked, wondering why he would look at her like that. She turned to Doug "How long do you guys plan to hang out here?"
Doug shrugged and took his coat off as well "Depends, right now I think this'll be our home for quite a while. East is really screwed up right now."

"Besides, this place is as good as any." Tom added, not answering Stacy's question cos she didn't seem to require an answer anyway.

"Yes it is, but it is also our place.. you can't just pretend you're one of us.. you guys are lucky anyways that you met us, cause we're the least competetive among the group, the rest doesn't like to share much"

Tom shrugged, "Good thing for them that we don't need much." He had expected this sort of an attitude on the streets - he was actually surprised it had took them so long to come across it. Little did these kids know they were here to protect them after all. That they were here to make sure these people weren't next on this killers black list.

Stacy shrugged and glanced at Sera, she was wondering whether they had to stay friendly to these two, after all they gave em coffee, but that didn't mean much on the street. It was take whatever is given to you, returning a favour was hardly ever the case.
Doug nodded "We know our way around, don't expect us to ask for help" he agreed with Tom.
